Microsoft announced discount for some of their certificate exams for who affected by COVID-19.

It normally costs between $99-165USD ($139-230 AUD) and it's down to $15 USD (~$21 AUD).

Offer runs until end of this year and the exams can be taken online.

        Watched A cloud Guru AZ-300 Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies 2020

        And I use Azure and DevOps.
        Had lots of tricky vNet questions and also a couple of things I had never heard/read about that I wish I could have remembered to look'em up.
        Setting up a vNet > VPN gateways and DNS via console.
        Guessed questions, so not sure what I don't know now.
        Case study was about pretty easy > Contoso migration of on-prem to cloud > authentication/VMs/storage

        Haven't done anything for 304, as I don't have the exam until Feb '21.

    Deal is good. I'm questioning value of having these certifications. Braindumps have destroyed any credibility MS certifications had.

      It's a real mix. Like any industry certification they're good if you're working in a specific field, e.g. Azure and want to improve your skills or be more employable.

      Its mostly to stop doors slamming in your face.

      But annoyingly, a lot of the test exams/previews cost money now and lots of people say the test/prep exams are quite easy but the real exams can be very difficult.

      exams cover overall knowledge of a subject, but one's ICT experience, sometimes, are very specific. Braindumps might be an alternative way to learn and improve one's skill with MS products effectively.

        Brain dumps can only do so much.

        If you are already in the field and have experience. It just helps you to pass. Nothing more. It's not hard to see someone just got certs with not much knowledge using dumps on interviews

      I think it used to be like this, but not so much anymore. A lot of JDs/ads specifically ask for these certs. Plus it forces you to study the theory. Definitely good to have.

      I've done more than 50 vendor exams over the past 22 years (Novell, Microsoft, Citrix, Cisco, VMware, Apple) and plenty of my friends thought they wouldn't be useful either. I honestly cannot say whether many of the jobs I got since were due to this or not - certainly none of them said, "Hey we hired you because you had a ___". The one exception would be a company that I worked for that needed an MCSE+Messaging and CCNP to slot in their Cisco Gold application and apparently in the entirely of the company I was the only one. So I got sent off to some nice training for a few weeks in a hotel, with classes that only had 2 people enrolled in them, and no exams to pass. In exchange… well… let's say THAT year and every year they needed to renew the partnership there were some nice perks - cash and otherwise. I also had my entire CCIE funded including access to a personal lab. I know this is only anecdotal, but showing you care about measuring your own knowledge and undertaking study and certification of your own volition is a valuable differentiator for you.

      Obviously there are tonnes of people with certification that don't know anything and just weasled their way through. It's the same in MANY professions of course.

      Being on the other end of the hiring these days I can tell you that in the level 1 and level 2 space most of the people I'm getting resumes for little to no hint that they care about self learning or growth of any kind in their resumes.

      At the risk of rambling now, my humble advice to anyone considering certification is to "just do it" if you plan to pursue the kinds of jobs and organisations where it has value. Always on your resume demonstrate how you have improved over time and how you will continue to improve - especially demonstrate how you brought value into your previous positions. If your resume is a list of dates and times and dot points of duties then stop doing that now.

        kind of reminds of myself as well, 23 years to be exact since A+ days but the advice about the resumes is gold. I was forced to write after reading your comment and every word you wrote states experience. Hopefully someone else picks up the idea and maybe land a good job. But my theory in life is that education always helps you achieve something maybe later down the track but this certification does help immensely if one has hands on experience too.

        Quality comment and Kudos! (I regret not doing CCIE back in early 2000s but maybe I will pick up all those lab notes from cisco academy and jump into it!!!)

        I think MCSD can certainly be useful. I have been in 2 companies where they had to have certain number of MCSD certified developer to qualify for MS partner program. I think MCP is less useful.

        Still a good deal. But for future reference, if you search on Ozbargain for 'Azure 900' you will find some deals. Usually have to attend a pre-recorded online seminar which you can just open in the background.

    So tempted, If I don't get free one from Ignite I will buy one. Maybe I will finally land a job, who knows… MS when passive-aggressive in promoting Azure over the competition. You don't get cheap exams with AWS, or even certification like A+ that are becoming so generic to be ignored.
