    Wait…your not TechFast…

This is not a deal you can get 4th gen machines for way less. What a rip off

      i5 here https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/329508841744161/
      i7 here https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3932488446777563/

3rd Gens are $149 with ram upgrade https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/865347887307759/

I think these guys have an ebay store as well will find it again

      • i5 here https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/329508841744161/

This is $199 plus delivery with the RAM upgrade, and depending on the specific i5 may not be noticeably faster.

        i7 here https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3932488446777563/

This one is twice the price, really not a relevant comparison.

3rd Gens are $149 with ram upgrade https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/865347887307759/

Better deal than this one if you can pick up, otherwise much of a muchness.

Also IIRC those HPs are a fair bit bigger than the SFF Optiplexes, which might be important to some.

        • This is $199 plus delivery with the RAM upgrade, and depending on the specific i5 may not be noticeably faster

It's $89 cheaper ? Who says anything about faster ?

This one is twice the price, really not a relevant comparison.

$10 more for i7 compared to the $289 i5 they have ? How is that not relevant ?

          • @Altitud:

            It's $89 cheaper

What? The deal in the title is $189 delivered. 3rd gen vs 4th gen is irrelevant for what these SFF will actually be used for. Even comparing 4th gen vs 4th gen works out nearly identical once you account for shipping.

$10 more for i7 compared to the $289 i5 they have

It's not $10 more though, it's $10 plus the RAM upgrade ($40) plus the SSD upgrade ($65) plus shipping (probably $30-40). So at the very least it's $100 more, and again, i5 vs i7 really isn't that much of an issue here.

I agree with you that these aren't great deals, especially the higher specs in the post description, but the ones in your link are no better (in fact, they're mostly worse).

            • @miarn: i5 vs i7 isn't that much of an issue here… LoL

Well if you dismiss things like this as "not much of an issue" I've already tuned out of anything else you've typed here.

              • @Altitud: Look, I'm not here to argue. As I said, I agree that these deals aren't great.

At the prices you've given, the i7 is 40% more expensive (excluding shipping). It's simply not going to be 40% better in the uses this type of machine will be put to.

Sure there is a difference, but not for web browsing and watching Netflix. No-one's buying a $300 and expecting to do 4K video editing…

  • Does this PUBG?

    • It can if you install a low profile graphics card

You would be better off getting this:

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-OptiPlex-7010-Tower-Intel-C…

Same specs but in a mini-tower for 159 + 30 odd shipping - the advantages of the mini-tower being that it has a 275W PSU compared to this deal's 240W, and will accept full sized graphics cards. This opens up a lot more options for upgrades.

      • I haven't downvoted you, but your neg is a little over the top for the reason you're giving.

        • +1

My neg was related to another comment I made about a very similar model for cheaper.

HP order cancelled. What’s the best of these lot for a basic computer no gaming. 9020 8gb ram and 240ssd with wifi card for $320?

    • Perfect bro

    • +3

$320 is too much for those specs IMO. For example, this is $229 or this is $249 if you value having something small.

They're also on eBay with free postage.

    • That’s a different model, DT which is larger than the SFF.

      • Fair point, but does it make that much difference?

        • +1

          Yes, size does matter

        • I’ve had both, I liked the compactness of the SFF. The DT has some advantages like better airflow (especially around PCIe ports) and actual caddy for both 2.5in and 3.5in dives

        • -1

This seems to be a closer product with a price of $187.25 including delivery.
          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Optiplex-9010-SFF-Intel-Cor…

The latch to open the case looks to be a different size however.

          • -1

@rolypoly: $165+ delivery and $189 delivered, pretty much the same thing

  • It depends on your intended use. I have rolled a few of these out (and the like) for std. office machines, invoice printers, even pos clients… they work fine with the Intel HD gfx.

But for my own use I'd want a tower that can take a full size gpu… even an older gpu like a gtx970 etc. would be a improvment everywhere.

  • +2

These are great for general use PC, or for a home server. That said, you'll definitely want an SSD to replace the clapped-out old HDD, which puts this on par with plenty of other options available.

    I would get this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/254719278310 for $145 and add a 240GB SSD for $40.

    • +1

what i have experienced is that some of these places dont mind if you visit them and pick it up… smithfield isnt far from me and you get a good discount not having to pay handling postage ebay

and the fear that aust post just bounced your pc off the concrete floor

      • You've had me at bounce + concrete floor.

Grade A+ Condition, 100% Fully TESTED.

Do you have any B+ Condition, 50% Fully TESTED models for cheaper?

  • Any of these come preloaded with Hero’s Quest, Leisure Suit Larry and Commander Keen?

  • Is this really a SFF? When I think SFF I think those EliteDesk minis

    • +1

Compared to a full sized desktop, these are small. Those EliteDesk minis are USFF (ultra small form factor)

  • For Plex server, will this have the edge over Raspberry Pi 8GB? No transcoding required, just streaming. Google shows idle power consumption is 3.4w vs 10.20w. Not a huge difference.

If transcoding is required, I can always get a low profile 1050?
