    5000 points = $25 ?..on 500 spent, which equates to 5% discount

    • +1

Should be 5.5% discount since you get your normal point plus 10 bonus points

    • +3

      equates to 5% discount

Yes, it's an OK offer, but I would still prefer buying through SunCorp Rewards Amazon gift cards which give an immediate upfront 3% discount.

    • 10 QFF per dollar can be thought of as a 10% discount.

My Westpac Platinum card says 12 to 15 October. My Velocity Escape has the same date as the OP's post.

    My DJs Amex got nothing

    Coincides with Amazon Prime day.

    • And Oculus 2 release. :)

  • My primary card has the offer but not my supplementary card…

    • In the offer it stated
Additional Cards are not eligible for this offer.

  • What about quest 2

  • Prime Day(s)…. Is coming

  • +1

    Amazon gift card?

  • Yes on green card.

  • +13

It will be interesting to see if Amex gets this right as Amazon doesn’t charge the credit card until the item is ready to ship. So the day the charge hits the Amex may be after 14 October even if it was ordered during Prime Day.

    any manual link?

  • nothing for me :( did you get the 20x Amex Prime membership earlier this year? i did and i wonder if that is why i missed out this time.

    • got the earlier amazon prime bonus and this offer on both my amex cards

  • Got this one on my Amex Ultimate but not on my supplementary card. 10 Bonus Quantas points per $1 spent

    • In the offer it stated
Additional Cards are not eligible for this offer.

  • Equivalent to 5% off across the board?

  • Targeted I think…

  • Got it on platinum charge card. Now….what to buy. hmmmm

  • Got on velocity platinum!

"Your Card must be charged by the offer end date to be eligible for the offer."

    Fail

Amazon only charges the card at the time of dispatch and not at the time of order. So orders from Amazon US and UK won't qualify definitely and partial chances of Amazon AU orders being charged same day.

    • True. I'm not sure of many Amazon orders that would be dispatched on the same day, unless it might be exclusive to Prime Day offers only.

    • +1

Someone at Amex seems to have stuffed up this offer, given this point!

    • So I ordered some Amazon Prime items and my card hasn't been charged yet, nor do I expect it to be anytime soon given how busy Amazon probably are.
I guess I'll need to contact AmEx when the charge is finally made.

  • Couldn't see it on my Qantas Amex Platinum…

Edit: Oh it's membership rewards… that's probably why i can't see it on my Qantas card

    • +1

Got it on my Qantas Ultimate.

  • -1

    Anyone got a manual link?

    • No sign of a manual link yet :(

  • +1

    Deal is now on Amazon.

    • It's still the general steps. Not much use if you can't get past Step 1.
Step1 - Save offer to card.

      *Eligible cards only

      • Terms and Conditions

        ^Eligible Cards
        • Eligible Cards include American Express Cards issued by American Express Australia Limited

got it on my Qantas Amex Ultimate. Thanks OP for prompting me to check

  • So many up votes… Honest question, the bonus points are not as much of incentive like the cash back previously? Thanks

  • +2

Hmmm can't see the offer with my Qantas Premium Amex

  • "Sorry. We were unable to save this offer to your Card. Please try again later". 150k enrollment reached?

    • Don't think so. I just saved the offer to my card, about 2 mins ago. Try again.

  • didnt get it on my amex card, but friend with same card did ffs.

  • Qantas AMEX, didn't get the offer. Seems like it's targetted.

  • Got it on my Primary Westpac AMEX and Discovery cards.

  • Does this include amazon coins?

I guess this falls under digital purchases huh

**Excludes Amazon Australia digital purchases (including, but not limited to, eBooks and Apps).

  • +1

    Didn't get this offer :(

  • +3

I just received an email from Amex promoting this and the line "Your Card must be charged by the offer end date to be eligible for the offer." is no longer present. On the Amazon website and in my Amex account, however, it still shows.

  • +8

Nothing mentioned gift card, so probably safe to buy gift card on 13/14 Oct, top up the account for future usage.

  • Why is this only for two days?

    • +2

Coincides with the Prime Day Sale

  • How much is 10 points worth on AMEX?

    • +1

It depends on what Amex you have …

  • I have the American Express® Essential Credit Card but doesn't appear as though I'm eligible for this offer

  • silly question, i know it says you need to be enrolled in the loyalty program but will it work if you are on the free trial?

    • Free Prime? Yep

  • Aww looks like I didnt get this deal :(

  • It could be one transaction only. My second purchase didn't get the confirmation email.

    • Have you been charged for the second transaction? Also it can't be one transaction only 'cause there's a cap of 5000 bonus points, or max spend $500

      • Amazon only charges your credit card upon being dispatched/shipped

  • Awesome, bought 5 x $100 amazon gift cards for 5000 amex points with 5 x $10 Amazon credit.

    • You've got 5 Amazon accounts? Only 1 x $10 Amazon bonus credit per account

      • +1

Weird, it did say it came with a $10 credit each time I ordered. If it doesn't come with the other 4 at least I get the max 5000 amex points.

        • curious if you ended up getting $10 credit or $50 credit :)

          • @lliw: Nope :( only received the $10 credit

    • Did it trigger the Amex email? Mine didn’t

      • Yes it did, all 5 seperate purchases of $100 amazon gift cards.

        • Wow, thanks for that! Not sure why mine didn’t trigger, but sometimes It happens with Amex offers I believe.

  • would e-gift card be considered a digital purchase?

    • nevermind think I answered my own question, digital purchases as in e-books, app purchases, in-videos etc.

      • +1

I still have some doubts as to whether e-gift card is considered a digital purchase. Most likely fine; besides Amex often does not enforce terms strictly. But the email triggered does not say for certain you will get the points. It says:

If your transaction meets the offer terms, your redemption should appear on your statement within 5 business days

        And T&C says:

Excludes Amazon Australia digital purchases (including, but not limited to, eBooks and Apps).

If only there is clarity as to whether e-gift card is considered a digital purchase.

        • +2

Not sure either. But bought an e gift card, got the email.

          • @bluedufflecoat: Yes, same here, my first buy of $100 gift card triggered the email. Suncorp gives 3% discount for Amazon gift card with certainty, so mulling over whether I should buy up to the bonus points limit still left.

  • Are people getting email confirmations? I haven't gotten one since and I've made three different purchases…

    • Haven't received any

Edit: Only just received email notifications just now.

  • Is it once only or per transaction in this period?

    • Per transaction

  • +5

Bought $500 in gift cards yesterday morning, and the 5000 bonus points are already in my account.

    • Same here :)

    • +1

That is good to know - digital gift cards eligible - for next time :-)
