For an existing Telstra customer is it okay to give the same Telstra account details (e-mail) so it appears under the current account? Or would this result in the plan not going through successfully as you're not eligible
They would be able to see your previous activity under the account I believe.
I just signed up via a new number on my exisitng account( currently out of contract). once i received the GC I will be calling telstra to merge the service with my old number.

Me too, did this in store this afternoon at Carseldine (QLD) & got my GC straight away. Took 45 mins though, guy said system was slow today - wonder why!! Just need to get Telstra chat to merge my service tomorrow and keep the old number!
You can have as many services (i.e. numbers) as you want on the same account.
I don’t think that’s the question he was asking though. It’s more of: would it be an issue for the GC eligibility.

Yep, been with Telstra for years. Off contract so ported out a couple months back to port back to Telstra when a good offer comes up. Optus coverage sucked!
I did this last year, ported number out of Telstra to Optus pre-paid, had to wait for 1 month cool off and signed up for 12 months plan and got $500 voucher.
My plan expired this month so ported out to Vodafone again and was hoping this deal would come up again.
I'm in Vic, so I rang the 13 52 44 and they said yes, I can sign up on phone but unfortunately I'm still on 30 days cool off period since I ported out, so I have to wait another 3 weeks.
Anyone thinking about porting out to another provider and porting back in immediately, remember there's 30 days cool off period. Some people reported getting away with it but agent I spoke with said Telstra system won't allow them to even progress the order.

Just waited on the phone for almost an hour to be told only available to Victorians. CSO was very good about it and even tried to speak to his manager about the advertising not stating that, but no go….. JB can go jump. Waiting for the Good Guys to match now.

Once the porting goes through to Telstra can you still use your previous provider for calls and data while waiting for the sim to come through via post?
@prisonmike - Yes. I just got off the phone and the person said that the porting only happens once you receive the SIM and initiate the process. Estimated postal time is 2-3 days.

Got an answer within 3 minutes of calling JB, but was advised there is a line of “approx 150” people trying to get through to their Telstra affiliates, and that I could only leave my number for them to potentially call back today or tomorrow. The guy suggested going in store to get an immediate result.

if you are in Vic you have to wait until you get the SIM (couple of days), activate (up to 24 hours), and then another up to 24 hours for the gift voucher
Does the sim card get activated automatically if you call and get a new number?
Not sure about this one, as im porting in. But i think you need to receive the sim first before it can be activated.
