Not worth it. It comes with the notorious butterfly and other known issues while still expensive comparing to 2020 Edition. And new MacBook may be out in October with the iPhone 12.

Agreed. I can think of much better alternatives for this sort of coin.

At least is a quad core
Back in 2016 MBP13 standard model is just coming with dual core
Is a joke for even calling it as Pro

  • My girlfriend got the 2020 Macbook air with a dual core i3, 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM… it was like $1700+ and it freezes from time to time with that beachball thing.. $1700

      What’s it freezing on?

      • -1

because macbook air's cooling design makes no sense: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiCBYAP_Sgghttps://www.youtu…

          Completely irrelevant to my question.

Complaining about a MacBook Air chugging (if you’re running an intensive task) would be like complaining about the battery life being too short on a beefy Alienware laptop.

If I buy said Alienware laptop with the purposes of using out and about, then when it inevitably fails spectacularly, is that because it’s a bad device? Of course not - it’s simply not designed to be used in that manner

Different devices are for different purposes. If you want a thin and light, ultra portable device with insane battery life and a long snappy life for low-moderate power tasks, then the MacBook Air has been the best option for a decade. Windows devices have only recently started to catch up with their battery management.

          Different devices for different purposes.

@Strahany: it's completely relevant to your question, why is it freezing? it's the poor cooling system.

relax man, I'm not even saying it's a bad laptop.

    • I got the i5/ 512gb version a few months ago for $1800 and zero issues. Is she using a program that's processor/memory hungry?

Like Chrome? If so, try another browser.

…take it to apple and say there’s something wrong with it?

    • dual core i3 for $1700.. why…

JB hi-fi has 10% off Macbooks currently and the 2020 model is $1799

    • Go for this!

    • or officeworks if you cannot find stock in jbhifi.

    • Good deal on jb hifi macbookpro

Is it worth to get jb hifi deal macbook pro 2020 at $1799, as opposed to buy upgrade macbook air i5 2020 at $1699 from apple?

      • Macbook pro is much better.

        • Would you mind to elaborate more, in what way the macbook pro 2020 will benefit over macbook air 2020? Thanks.

          • +1

@11CENTS: You get touchbar with macbook pro, more ports selection, better overall performance I think.

Really depends on what you'll be using it for imo. I've normally had Pros but bought my first Air this year based on 2 things:
        1. realised i wasn't using it for programs that use a lot of processor/ram like i used to
        2. 10th gen chip vs 8th gen chip for the base MacBook Pro.

And yes i was aware of the substandard cooling in the Air but i've had no issues with light use.

Where are you getting $1699 for the i5 Air though?

Apple are selling May 2020 base refurbished models for $1699. If this had 16gb of Ram then maybe but the keyboard is an issue.

I have 2013 macbook pro, still going strong. But new 16 macbook pro is impressive
