ASUS Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Router, RT AX3000 Router $329 + Delivery @ Kogan

100

I've bought 2 of these routers from this link. Direct searching leads you to a $400+ link.

Cheapest I can find at the moment for a router that is comfortably handling multiple LAN and wifi connections, running AI mesh, having a torrent client running in background with a raspberry pi, serving plex 4k to multiple devices.

Has an easy to use App and webUI. Can easily customise DNS, port forwarding etc.

QOS is reportedly buggy and caused an issue blocking my nvidia shield pro when activated for streaming.

Edit. Cheaper on Amazon now (for non AU version). See comments below

    • but apart from that what have the romans done for us?
    • I don't think i get the reference…?

The ax88u for $100 more on Amazon is a much better router overall and well worth the extra money.
The ax3000 has a 3 core CPU at 1.5Ghz with 512mb of ram and the AX6000 has the 4 core top of the range CPU at 1.8Ghz with 1G of ram.

    • I guess it comes down to cost and what you want to spend. For someone looking for a $400+ router your option sounds great.

    • Where are you seeing the ASUS ax88u/ax6000 for ~$430? Are you maybe looking at the TP-Link?

Sorry, it was on Amazon Prime for around $460 a few days ago but now the deal is gone.

        • I'm finding your comment that says "about $100" more slightly deceptive. You're comparing a router on special on amazon that you said was ~$460, to a router that is $329 + $9 delivery. They are completely different price brackets…

@drjamie: You have the option to pay $300+ for a wifi 6 router or spend $0 and keep using the existing one. Or spend a little bit more and get the router that has the best hardware on the market.
Also the deal with wireless 1 has the TP LINK AX6000 for $330. I know Tp-link is not as good as ASUS brand wise, but this TP-link router shares the exact same hardware as the AX88U. Which I argue is a much better buy than this one.
The point I'm trying to make is don't only look at the brand or advertising. The hardware (CPU, RAM and Siganal amp) in a router decides what the router is capable of.

            • @[Deactivated]: So which is it?

The deal posted is for a cheap price than other places listed for that router. That is the purpose of listing the deal.

Entering into a discussion about whether the router is the best in various situations, internals, and comparing between brands is irrelevant to the purpose of posting the deal, which is that this is a cheap price for local AU stock, in the order of around $100 cheaper than other listings.

You are welcome to debate whether a particular brand of router is not necessarily value for money, but that debate is best held in forums or under discussions where people are asking your advice about best brands.

My point still stands. You have compared routers of completely different brackets when negging this deal, you then go onto compare completely different brand routers.

@drjamie: THE TP LINK AX6000 ROUTER THAT YOU EVEN LEFT COMMENTS BELOW THE POST.
Why are you downvoting anything that you don't agree to? If you don't want any discussion or opinions you should just close this post.

                • @[Deactivated]: That's a different post.

If people want this router for whatever reason, aimesh, asus, etc. It is a good deal.

You are being down voted by more than just me, due to the irrelevance of your discussion to whether this post is a good deal or not, for this router.

I've no idea what you think you saw but it definitely wasn't the RT-AX88U. I've been checking Amazon religiously for the last 2 weeks and it was never at that price. And just to be sure, I checked the three wise camels and it hasn't been at the $460 mark since January.

          • @KangaDrew: You're right. I just checked my Amazon order history and it's the Netgear AX8, which has the exact same hardware as the ax88u and TP-Link ax6000.
            I apologize for my mistake.

        • Not trying to defend him, but he is right. I ordered the AX86U which was $373 on Amazon and would have been an Amazing price compare to the AX3000, unfortunately, the price has gone up now as with the rest of the Asus Router line up.

Is this one better and Amazon au $340.95 or $340.45 harris technology. Tuf version

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B089MR1S31/ref=sspa_mw_det…

    • the TUF is a 2020 model with the same basic internals as far as i can see (same 1.5Ghz tricore CPU with 512 RAM).
The interface is different. It seems on average to be about $20 higher than the RT-AX3000
