Got a cover from Aldi a few years back and it's been great. Starting to show signs of wear now and I would like to get another for when this one finally gives up the ghost. Large covers my CB900 Hornet with topbox attached.

    • Mine from last year has started to split at one of the seams but I’ve been pretty rough with it.

Got the carbon knuckle gloves last year and the plastic buckle on the wrist strap broke after 3-4 months of_very_ light use. Superglued together. The velcro also peeled off the same strap and I sewed it back on.

The plastic trim around the base of the helmet also started coming off. Superglued back on.

Bought the jacket but I have not worn it much as I have a second lighter one. It seems ok build though.

You get what you pay for. If you are just starting to ride the gear is ok to start with but buy some superglue and be prepared to repair the minor trimmings. They may pass safety checks but QA doesn't seem to be high on priority when leaving the factory.

    • Are the gloves waterproof?

      • +1

i've only ridden in rain for 1/2 hour at a time, but i've never had the water soak through to my hands. But I wouldn't recommend submerging them and expecting them to be waterproof.

  • I have had the medium bike cover for 3 years now, I buy a new one every year, not because I have to but because I like it looking new, my bike is outside all the time, the number plate clear cover for me just makes it easier to know which way to put it on, the cover is heavy enough that I never have to strap it down, it never blows off and keeps my bike dry. For that price I'll definitely be buying my 4th one.

Wouldn't bother going. The disc lock, the gloves, and a couple other items aren't available. Sign said they'll be on sale at a later date.
Helmet, the undergarments, socks and cover are there though.

  • Been waiting for this sale for a year. Got the gloves, helmet, socks, jeans (really really wanted this) and underlayer.

Disc lock was not available. Might be available in other Aldi stores. Manager was not too sure.

Thank you Aldi for making motorcycle riding affordable.

    • Wait, the gloves and jeans were available at your Aldi?
Damn it, will have to check others then

    • VIC/Melb update in case it helps anyone:

Camberwell had one pair of mens jeans, didn’t see the size but large-ish.

Carnegie had plenty of the locks left.

Was looking for gloves but no luck

COVID-19 has impacted the delivery of some of our Special Buys. 3. Motorcycle Gloves (Carbon Knuckle & Padded Leather)
    4. Motorcycle Tank or Tail Bag

The following products will not be available in NSW stores, however will be available at a later date:
    1. Roti Maker

The following products will not be available in QLD stores, however will be available at a later date:
    1. Motorcycle Denim Jeans
    2. Motorcycle Gloves (Carbon Knuckle & Padded Leather)

  • If anyone gets any information on when the Motorcycle Bags should become available I'd love to hear from you. The staff didn't seem like they've been told anything.

    • yeah - same for the gloves and jeans in QLD - their FB stock availability chatbot is useless…

  • So it looks like since yesterday stores have gotten the rest in.

I bought 2 of the 3 bags available (all bags had mould on them). The tail bag is so confusing though, all these straps and pieces that I can't work out. I've got it to where it should fit fine but there's plastic on the strap that prevents my seat going back on. This one is definitely going back.

Haven't even started with the larger tank bag yet.

(Edit) I don't recommend either of these bags. Waste of fuel and time.

    • I went today to check but still couldn't find the gloves, hopefully a different Aldi would have them.

Also I bought their tail bag 3 years ago and still going strong, just get rid of all the straps except for the ones that click in. Those are the ones you put underneath your seat so you can click your bag in and out and take it wherever.

    • Been checking every alternate day due to no stock. Checked both Newcastle and Sydney since the catalogue date. Good to know that they are now in store. I'll go to my nearest one and have a look see. I'm waiting for the jeans and the disc locks. I'm in Sydney atm.

Just popped into my store in Ryde. Still nothing. The manager said that a lot of stuff is still held up at the port due to the union strike. Tomorrow's specials haven't arrived in his store yet. Perhaps something to do with this:
        https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/australia-n…

        • Ye had nothing at Narellan when I checked, might check a different one tomorrow.
But damn, that is a bummer :/ good to know though, thanks for that.

          • @Jeaso: Yea no worries mate. Let me know if you find some in Sydney or Newcastle.

            • @lordra: Will do! Checked Eastgardens Aldi today, but no luck so far :/

              • @Jeaso: I haven't been to aldi today, so will check tomorrow.

  • Went to my local Aldi today. They have now stocked the disc alarm lock. Picked one up. Plenty of carbon knuckle gloves still there. Surprisingly the gloves of the same size S were fitting differently to my hands.

    • Are you in NSW?
I went to my store today and nothing. I'll try again first thing tomorrow. I'm desperatly after the jeans and disc locks.

      • +1

Yup went today as well and still nothing here in my local one in Sydney.

        • +1

Mate, looks like you and I are the resident Aldi stalkers until this shows up.

Saw from your comments above that you visit Ryde - Macquarie Centre and Top Ryde are my locals.

Going to pop in to Top Ryde this evening, I'll let you know if I spot anything. After the disc lock myself!

        • Thanks for that.
I went to Warriewood on the Northern Beaches myself today to check, still has the little sign that it will be delivered at a later date.

Meanwhile I was also at my local one in Eastgardens yesterday and then they said it was all sold-out ^^'

        • Did you get anything?

I have been diligently checking Rydalmere & Top Ryde & Eastwood. Also sent scouts out to different Aldis looking for the jeans and motorcycle locks.

A friend was going by Macquarie and found them and secretly got me a pair of jeans and a lock! Just got them today. The receipt was dated the 12/10/20 so maybe a bit too late now. They had loads of gloves at Eastwood, but nothing at Top Ryde or Rydalmere.

The jeans are baggy to the point an elephant's leg would fit into each! They're also 4 inches too long (I got the 32") so need to spend a bit of cash and shorten them up (any suggestions would be welcome).

The disc lock is super heavy and is a steal for $30.

          • +1

@lordra: Suprisingly, I found 34 to be fitting better than 32. Their QC is not too high… . 34 is actually shorter in waist and less baggy.

            • @Cynicaloflife: @Cynicaloflife Thanks for the input. I wish I could have tried the 34" but the sale was a complete flop due to the union strike. Just need to loose a bit of the podge and find somewhere to take the length in(for cheap).

          • @lordra: I did! I went in today and to my surprise they had finally stock. Picked up the gloves thankfully, not many left in my size either.
Ye they had heaps of disc locks but only 5 jeans or so.
I got an alarm Kovix disc lock a while ago, which was around 69$ but still need to replace the battery.

However the build quality on the ALDI one feels way more solid

            • @Jeaso: I just tried to fit the disc lock to my Duke 390 and the rotor holes are too small for the disc lock. So now it's useless. :(

Wondering if I should return it or sell it online.

              • +1

@lordra: That's so crap! I would probably just return it to get your money back and then look at Kovix one as it has been able to fit all my 3 bikes I've had so far.
A lot more compact to carry around too.

              • @lordra: I have the same issue with my R3. But I noticed that as long as the vibration sensor is on the disc (the metal circle thing), then any movement will trigger the alarm. I

So you don’t need to put it in the holes.

                • @Cynicaloflife: Yes, I figured that out. Thank you.
Also nets me a $15 discount on my premium for fully comprehensive on the bike, so kinda got it for half price. :)

  • +1

I just bought a pair of Kevlar jeans at ALDI Wolli creek so I guess they're in NSW stores now. Not much stock so get in quick!

  • Hey guys, I went to put the disc lock into my bike and my disc holes are too little! So I can still slide it all the way in and still use it but consider testing this out if you haven't already.

The alarm arms but doesn't go off like a car alarm. Neither is it very loud. No way would I hear it on my 3rd floor apartment with the garage in the basement.
