Based on the 2nd image of this review, the pins on the power supply are not insulated and doesn't comply with Australian electrical standards? Dodgy…

      Yeah but it's cheap 😁

No idea why I got falsely negged, but stating the truth about the item being a fire hazard?

      • Lol a fire hazard? How many non insulated pins pre 2004 were the cause of a fire? It was a pointless change and I bet if you pulled out some of the things you have connected in your home you will find well according to you "fire hazards"

Can put nail polish on the top cm of old power plug pins if concerned.

      • People don't really like hearing the truth here

    • -5

Yes they can be used in AUS

      • +3

As an associate you should read up on the electrical standards requirement for Australia and not promote an item that's not fit for use and/or sale here.

    • hey @Bubble Tea .. can you explain what u mean by not insulated ? I have a similar one from amazon ..and I would like to check mine as well

      • +1

The top 5mm or so of the power pins are basically painted (insulated). Reduces the ability to short the pins if lose in the socket, or small fingers going underneath when unplugging.

        • ahh makes sense now … cheers mate

  • Any Ozbargainer has experience with these?

The gear these guys sell is a bit dodgy, I bought a pair of these solar lights:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/557574

I received 2 different models, they're totally different designs, one had a stuffed battery, the other had one of the side LED panels dislodged and floating around inside, it needed to be dismantled to glue the panel back into place because the plastic tabs that hold it were broken… and to make it worse they're $3+ cheaper now a month later, lol

My brother in law bought 4 of them, he received 3 of one style, and 1 of the other, and one of his batteries were stuffed also..

After replacing the 18650's with spares I had on hand, all the lights work ok, but it's damn annoying that they sent a mix of two different styles and some duds, I'd never buy from them again…

Anyone considering this deal, sit on your hands for a month there's a good chance they'll be cheaper then, and keep your expectations low ;)

Edit: pics to back up my claims above:

They were totally different internally also, different batteries and holders, different circuit boards, different sensors, different layout… I assume old stock and old design mixed in with new..

The seller solved the problem. They had sent the wrong product before and now is the correct the products

    • +2

and this is why I didn't chase up the issues I had with their solar lights, they barely speak English, it's not worth the annoyance..

    • +1

Pro-tip - buyers expect to get what they've paid for the FIRST TIME.

Having to chase it up is a massive hassle.

  • +2

Well, it's shipped via Amazon so free returns. I either get a bargain or I save $25.89. Win win

  • CRI 98+ is obviously complete BS

  • why you didn't mentioned it's 150 LED which has poor light

    • This has 150 as well
