What an emotional rollercoaster! Just missed out on EB Games pre order. Got one from JB Hi Fi For $50 deposit, but not guaranteed. Almost got one for $750 deposit (!!!) from Sony store just in case (and free delivery). Saw this just in time, phew! $700, launch day, no deposit, free delivery - done.

Lucky launch day is a Thursday so you might get it on the Friday.

I'm thinking pre-order the PS5, pay via Zip, "pre pay" the entire $749 amount into your Zip account, so that when Amazon ships it, Zip just takes the $749 out of your Zip account and doesn't charge you any $6 monthly fees or any other gubbins?
Wait until Zip makes the payment then just pay it off same day.

whats happens if you say have some amazon credit on your account on the day when it ships. generally amazon credit/gift cards are used first then whatever remains charged to zip. Would that qualify for the $50 zip promo… or full said amount of $750 needs to be thru zip?
Mac from Zip here, another user has shared that gift cards can be used at checkout to reduce the amount paid by Zip.
As long as you also select Zip as the other payment type, you'll be eligible.

Sorry, no you don't. However you cannot select Zip on Amazon unless you have available balance higher than the basket size.
Eg: If you only had $500 available in your Zip account it will be greyed out on Amazon.
you can pay as little as $10 per week and pay the remainder by the end of the following month (not the same month as the purchase date).

Both consoles are exactly the same, only difference is the digital version is discless, you can only play games that you buy from the PSN store. Which is good in theory but games tend to be more expensive and there is no resale value for the games.

Ordinary, at $749 is the "Normal" version with disc and $599 for the "discless" version.

I called zip, their advice was to make sure the email addresses match.

Pre-ordered at JB for $50 but as no guarantee went with the Amazon pre order. Whichever one comes through earlier for a launch day get I will go with. I have had nothing but good experiences with Amazon, their delivery to me as always been super quick and leaves Aus Post for dead. Can cancel anytime before delivery no fee no hassle. I have also returned items through amazon before for full refund.

@jimbobaus: Sony will make sure they constantly have new stock ready for order. They won't want to risk others just buying an Xbox whom Microsoft will ensure they have plenty of stock.

Was planning to manufacture 15 million units by March 2021 now reduced to 11 million.
They have staggered release to manage stock.
