This should work as a replacement for a 1.8" IDE drive for the OS in an old mini-laptop, using a simple adapter.
And faster, hopefully.
Not bad. I bought a couple of 4GB Ultra's (30MB/s) from Dealfox for $9.95, but these are obviously faster with UDMA.
Also manic, not sure how well these would wear as an OS drive with the constant read/writes? I'd be interested to know.

I'll have to google it. There is plenty of info on Linux. Mount "noatime" for a start. /tmp in ramdisk.
Don't CF cards have wear-levelling?
These cards always state the max speed (40mb/s) but what I'm really interested in is the minimum read/ write speeds. Reduce your expectations and you won't be disappointed…
