Still too pricey for me but it might fit someone else's budget.

It is pricey as i purchased it many years ago. Still running great apart from one USB Port broken. I think I purchased it for $60 when it was released.
Far as I can tell (based on a gearbest blog) this was only released in September last year.
Don't see how you could've purchased it many years ago.
Don't know when I purchased but definitely more than 2 years ago.
As an example, you can see here, this has been posted before and have been famous. Not the same model - this is the QB823, that's the QB820, which I also have and love, but I think is 40W max output
@suburbanmale: Yeah I did notice that the model number is different but I am not sure with the output as I still charge my 65w laptop with it.
Would consider buying this when it goes below $88, considering it was on sale at Amazon for that price couple of months back.
This is however a good price if you need it immediately.
$10 cashback makes it $87.16 now.
The price $97 has GST in it.
This item might fall slightly short of $90 after discount and GST deduction so may not qualify for extra $10 off.
I take my last comment back. Shopback Rep clarified that GST condition only applies to the overseas items so you are right here.
This or the cheaper but 60W RAVPower?
I read a few reviews/ comparisons the other day, which suggested that this is better than any other RAV/ or any other power bank, considering this one has the latest PPS technology and overall ZMI has been getting very good reviews. With 65W output you can barely go wrong as it will possibly charge everything (phone, tablets and laptops) that's on the market today so this kind of is future proof purchase for a while however this comes at a premium. It was $88 last year so you may as well wait for the price to go down if you don't need one urgently.
I don’t need it urgently with all these stage 4 restrictions, WFH etc (VIC). But I really want a high output power bank. Do you think this power bank is sufficient for MacBook Pro 16”?
This is what I see in the Product Info: "COMPATIBLE Apple laptops: MacBook 2015 or newer; MacBook Pro 2016 or newer; MacBook Air 2018 or newer. Compatible Windows laptops should have charging-capable USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 ports. Also supports USB 2.0 hub mode (data)".
You can check more info/ review onAmazon US: https://www.amazon.com/ZMI-PowerPack-USB-C-Power-Bank/dp/B07…
I considered both and went with the ravpower to save some money as well as some weight. Ravpower is listed as 370g vs this one at 600g.
Bought it just before we went back into lockdown though, so haven't really had much use for it.
Oh yeah, really haven’t looked at the weight of the ZMI. I know the Ravpower is light and 20000mAh. Not sure if the 5W makes a lot of difference but in the description, it explicitly states that it is not compatible with the MacBook Pro 16” and iPad Pro 2020 (two of my devices). I find it funny as it is compatible with iPad Pro 2018. Aren’t both have the same capacity battery?
The QB823 weighs 440g.
Bought! Also will snag the RAVPower down the track when lockdown eased.
Looks like the US version (called ZMI PowerPack 20k Pro QB823) comes with a travel pouch but Australian one (ZMI PowerPack No.10 model QB823) doesnt. Very strange that they wouldn't include a pouch for us.
Just noticed another thing - The AU version doesn’t seem to include the USB-C to USB-C cable too.
Some listings say that they do include USB C to USB C and some don't mention it so it's very confusing e.g. the listing on Amazon AU says that it comes with USB C to USB C whereas listing on eBay has no mention of it. I have placed the order on ebay so let's see what comes in the box.
I contacted ZMI directly to clarify why there are two separate packages, one for US and one non US, with missing accessories. Their response was bit strange, they said they don't have any relationship with any of the Australian retailers therefore can't even verify/ confirm if these are genuine ZMI packs. It may be possible that Xiaomi is procuring these from ZMI and then marketing/ exporting these under a different name to other countries and to increase profitability, they are not including some accessories.
Did you get yours from this deal? I bought one last night to take advantage of the SB $10 cash back (yet to receive tracking email though). I have just had time to look through different listings on ebay just then and noticed the stores that claimed Oz stock doesn’t say they include the USB-C to USB-C cable and the one listed by Xiaomi AU store doesn’t even say what is included in the box. I reckon the one sold by Mostly Melboune (from the old deal) is not AU stock and they include the cable.
I will have to see if they are including the cable with my unit. Worst case I’ll just grab an e marker cable from Amazon but that will just spoil the deal.
@FrugalNotStingy: Yes, I ordered yesterday so get the extra $10 off. Haven't received the tracking email yet and Shopback said that it could take up to 7 days for it to come so fingers crossed.
Yes, you are right. It's not very consistent. I read another review from a website in Singapore where someone was complaining that they didn't get the travel case and that's how I came to know about it but they didn't complain about the missing cable. If there are only 2 versions, US and the rest then hopefully we should get the cable. ZMI did say that the US one has pouch and others "may or may not" have it but they never said anything about missing cable.
Good cable will cost around $10 so yes, it isn't the best deal then if there is missing cable.
@FrugalNotStingy: Also I checked the unboxing videos on YouTube. US version comes in purple box whereas the other came in a white box. The one in white box didn't have the pouch but it did have the usb c to usb c cable.
@ozioziozi: The US version comes with 18 months warranty whereas our version only has 12 months. Why???
If ZMI doesn’t acknowledge the units sold by Aussie retailers then I don’t think it is easy to claim warranty. Or do we claim from Xiaomi?@FrugalNotStingy: I guess for us it will be through Xiaomi.
@FrugalNotStingy: Did you get yours delivered yet and was the cable included? Mine is still stuck in Sydney.
@ozioziozi: No, I am still waiting like you, also stuck in Sydney :(
By the looks of it. Maybe I will get it on Friday
Will keep you posted.@FrugalNotStingy: Cool. Thanks.. I will let you know if I receive mine sooner.
@ozioziozi: I’ve already been looking for a quality E-marker cable with good reviews. Will pull the trigger if this thing doesn’t include the cable.
@FrugalNotStingy: I have shortlisted this: https://www.amazon.com.au/Belkin-USB-C-Cable-Type-C-F2CU052b…. The description on Amazon isn't updated yet but if you read it on Belkin's site then this seems quite good though bit more expensive than the others. This is the only USB-IF certified that I found which can support such a speed/ charging wattage.
@ozioziozi: I was looking at this
It is not a reputable brand as Belkin but it is braided (more durable) and it also supports video in case we find it handy. It also has an E-marker chip (I saw in one of the reviews of our ZMI powerbank and the USB C cable it supposedly comes with has that chip to enable the charging of high wattage reliably.Or this as it is cheaper for longer length. People on OzB like Choetech :)
@FrugalNotStingy: Thanks for sharing. I looked at the ones you shared and I too was looking at those. They definitely look good. Other one I looked at was https://www.amazon.com.au/MDT-Charging-Delivery-MacBook-Nint…. Fasgear has a sale going on for their Gen 2 cable. Some of the reviews said that the connection between the cable (USB-C port) and Mac/ laptop wasn't secure enough and if you move your laptop then the cable comes off whereas Belkin's review say that the connector is quite firm and stays in place. Few good options to choose from.
@ozioziozi: I think we’ll be OK if we go with either one. The one that supposedly include with the powerbank wouldn’t be a very high quality one anyway and it is likely be made in a similar factory in China as other brands. Or do you think we should get a Xiaomi one instead to make us feel better? 😁
@FrugalNotStingy: This is the Xiaomi one, in case you were looking for it: https://www.amazon.com.au/Xiaomi-ZMI-MacBook-15-inch-Marker/…. This is directly from ZMI: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000897333862.html?spm=2114.…
I guess if you are looking for a cable just to charge the laptop using this Powerbank then either will be fine however if you are looking for one cable to use for charging as well as data transfer (if you have other devices that support USB 3.1 through USB-C) then you would potentially need a cable that supports faster data transfer. More expensive ones for e.g. can support up to 100 gbps where cheap ones support 480 mbps.
I don't have many devices with USB-C port but in future may acquire some so in the short term any of these cables will do. For long term view Belkin seems better as it support 100W charging and speeds of 10 Gbps and is also USB-IF certified so you know you won't screw up your device if charging with anything higher than 75W.
@ozioziozi: I might grab one of each of the cables that we have discussed above just to see which is better. At the end of the day, they are just cables. If they don’t work, just dump!
@FrugalNotStingy: Or just return the powerbank and save all the money and hassle!! lol Considering we won't be going anywhere until end of this year, this may not be a bad option :)
@ozioziozi: Honestly, my purchase of this powerbank is just an impulse buy. With these lockdown, I don’t need it. I will just play with it at home or wait for the next power outage to test it out!
@FrugalNotStingy: Same :).. May be I will use it to charge my phone while I sit and watch TV on the couch, rather than hooking up the phone to the wall socket. Just a justification for my impulse buy. I love technology therefore I buy and then sell later when I am done and move on to something newer.
@ozioziozi: I am going to do just that and use it to charge the phone and iPad Pro. Hope it won’t fry my iPad 😂
It’s a shame I can’t go visit people or have visitors otherwise I will use it to charge other people’s devices just to test it out!
@FrugalNotStingy: Jut got mine delivered today. Haven't opened the box yet but it says on the box that USB-C to USB-C cable is included in the package :)
@ozioziozi: That’s great news!! I still haven’t received mine. Now we go find a travel pouch!
@FrugalNotStingy: I have a pouch from one of the cycling sunglasses that I threw away but decided to save the pouch. Looks like it is going to be useful again now. Big enough to store the power bank and the cables.
@ozioziozi: I have an unused Crumpler pouch from years ago. Not sure if I can stuff the cables in as I haven’t received the Powerbank yet. I might look around and get a cheap 3DS/Switch case for it but there is no rush as I don’t see I can take it travel around with me in the coming months.
Go play with your unit :)
@ozioziozi: I am quite surprised no one else bought this powerbank in AUS version here yet. No current owner input their experience whether if it included a USB C cable. I feel like we are two lonely guinea pigs :O
FYI This is available from MostlyMelbourne Site for $99.99 with free delivery.
