After 4 years of daily use I have no burn in.
Seems like if you have varied content and not leaving static images on your screen for 5 hour blocks you should be fine.

      • +2

Mine is the same. LG C7 65" OLED.
        No burn in issues.

      • +2

C8 65inch here. No burn in. A friend bought a display model E8. When he got it home found that it had 4000 hours runtime compared with my 1050 hours at the time. He doesn't have any burn in issues. It's rare, and all the tests that "prove" burn in are almost always tested using static images. It just doesn't compare to real life use and is a non issue.

        • Are any of you guys who commented ‘no burn in after X years’ gamers? Or just casual tv usage, like Netflix?

          • @Red Pandas: I'm a gamer, no burn in on mine. Between the TVs burn in reduction and the PlayStation's additional, I've prevented myself from yelling at my girlfriend for leaving static images on screen for hours.

Personally I baby it a bit.

            • @Salmando: How many hours do you usually play per session to baby it?

              • @Red Pandas: Oh, I don't really baby it with time on. Usually just very conscious of pausing.

Mostly 3-4 hour sessions, with up to 8 on a quiet weekend.

I really think it comes down to long static treatment. I never had issues with my plasmas back in the day, but knew of a lot of people who did, especially gamers, especially NBA games

        LG C8 55" - Massive burn-in within 18 months.
Having to constantly 'baby' a tv to avoid burn-in is not worth it.

        • Do you just leave it on CNN or something?

    • +1

Parents have about 5 years + of high daily use, with young kids having primary control, and they love pausing images for hours at a time.
      Absolutely no burn in.

In fact, the only burn in I've seen in a while have been the led TVs at work, Samsung and TCL brands, with burn in from coffee menus etc.. which usually display in 10 minute static bursts before slightly shifting

    • I got 3850 hours worth of use on my c8 55” and no burn in issues. Bought nov 2018. Use the tv for ps4/xbox/pc gaming/netflix/youtube kids for the little one.

I got mine for $7000 delivered in April. Simply haggled
Some people got their’s for even less

    • +3

I don't think it deserves your downvote just because you managed to haggle a better price.

      • +8

Why? The price is not special

        • +1

What area do you live in and in which shop did you manage to haggle prices down? You may be right if anybody anywhere can easily get it for $7000, but not if yours is a different case to many other people in different places of the country or in different positions. Cash vs credit card also? Delivery? Would be interested to hear the story and get an idea for how likely it would be for everyone else to get the same deal

  • No signs of the 48" cx yet??

  • Wow. Premium price for a premium product. This is a perfect sample of you get what you pay for. Still can't help saying ouch though.

Really wish a TV worth over 7K is easily justifiable in my case.

    • My C6 still wows me from time to time. 4K HDR is fantastic, even if Netflix compression stuffs it up a bit it still looks fantastic and I don’t regret my purchase. I’m tempted to replace the lounge 75” Hisense with this, though I might end up dying if I did…

      • ATM am using a run-of-the-mill 4K HD Sony Bravia 65" and would really like to upgrade to an Oled panel at 75" minimum but as the title above says, I may have to wait a (long) while yet.

      • +2

The C6 has 3D which is AWESOME!! I can't get over how good it looks. Way better than anything else I've seen including IMAX 3D.

It is an utter tragedy that 3D TVs died out just as the perfect technology came along for it.

    • It used to be worse.. about 18 years ago I saw a plasma TV at myer for $23k.

  • Really wish this was 8k for 8k

    • +1

      8K is a pointless gimmick

      • Not at this size and price.

It's always a gimmick until you reach a size point.
4k below 60 inch is a gimmick. 75 inches on 8k starts being very as noticeable as the 4k difference.

Future proofing is a good factor too, though since 4k has only very recently stopped being a gimmick itself, it's probably too early to really give a shit about 8k…

Still, the tech is there, and it does look better

        • The viewing distance calculator suggests a minimum 100” for 8K

          • @Boogerman: Perhaps i sit too close to my TV, but my friends 82" 8k Samsung really outshines my 75" 4k LG with appropriate images or a laptop hooked up.

  • Paid $3999 brand new for 77" C8 last December, perhaps if you're in the market for one wait for end of year clearances for C9? Extremely happy with mine btw.

    • Great purchase!

    • +1

I currently have a 55" c9 and have been waiting to upgrade to the 77". Your post from last year has single handedly stopped me multiple times from upgrading until I can get it for 4k.

    • Was it advertised in store or did you have ask about it?
I remember going to into Good Guys in Canberra at the end of cycle a few years back and they were still after over $10k on a demo 77".

      • +1

No I was just browsing the electrical department at David Jones while waiting for something else. I actually had my eyes on a 65" LG or Pana until I saw 3 'Demo' TVs on clearance, one was a 48" Sony, the other was a 55" Panasonic and the 77" OLED that I bought. All were boxed up so I asked the staff are you sure these are demo, and he checked and was like no they've never been opened they're on clearance. There was no price on them so asked and he said down from $7999 to $3999 so I said shut up and take my money :) 12 months interest free on the AMEX was a bonus too.

        • I might start popping in to DJs weekly in December and see how I go. They'll be like: 'not this guy again, he's delusional. And I'll be like: 'but haji said…'.

  • Incorrect audio decoders described.
With the release of the "X" series all DTS decoding options have been removed.

    • That’s unfortunate, but most people buying this tv would have a UHD bluray player & receiver that decodes DTS

  • 12 new models are getting released in 2020 and apparently cheaper price tag too

    • You mean 2021?

WARRANTY PERIOD1 Year Warranty - Parts and Labour

Is it really only 1 year for a $7k tv?

    • ACL will cover you for at least 5 years

      • does that apply to all TVs?

  • +1

I paid $7000 for this tv over a month ago before bonus $500 cashback, 1 year of Disney plus and free install/delivery. So $6500 end price after cashback. Happy to send my receipt to anyone. Go to the good guys and negotiate. This isn’t a great deal.

    • +2

Edit: sorry even better, went back and looked at my receipt. I paid $6500 BEFORE $500 cashback. So $6000 total. With free delivery, install and Disney plus.
