Ziggy by Ziegler & Brown Portable Grill Now $249 (Save $100) @ BBQ Galore

60

Been between the Ziggy by Ziegler & Brown & the Webber Baby Q, then through the magic that is google the BBQ Galore special appears on my feed. Think my decision just got easier. Looking for using whilst camping so small size appeals.

2 stores I rang had no stock ATM but orders being taken at advertised price. I'm in no rush so not bothered by this, just thought I'd mention it.

EDIT - using my Suncorp Rewards with 7% off Gift Cards = $231.57 :)

i can recommend the beefeater bugg if your looking for that style and mine has great cooking temps and u dont have to cook with the lid down like the others.fyi .

      • +1

You don't have to have the lid down with the Ziggy or the Gasmate.

      • Bugs turned crap years ago.. the first models were a serious hazard though!! Were too top heavy and could fall over, control knob on the back so users would burn forearms turning the control knob.
Then Electrolux bought our beefeater and everything turned to shit, no one wants to do business with them anymore and now you find them in bunnings!!

Ziggy's are bad too but Weber Q Mini isn't powerful enough, nor big enough!

  • It looks tiny.

Might be good for people living on their own.

    • popular size for camping, nice find OP.

      • +2

Maybe, if you go camping alone and don't want to share food.

        • What about BBQ'ing alone ;)

        • So I actually ordered one today after going in store and looking at the unit. Was surprised how large the grill/hot plate actually is.

    • I'd say it is…it's the portable one in the lineup.
If you want one to use more at home but still be able to take it to the park, camping etc, get the 2 burner.

      • Can it feed a family of four? In the pic, the guys hand gives you an idea of the size. I think they are using really small steaks in the picture.

Due to the lockdown, we can't really go in store and take a look.

I think it would be painful…Definitely looks small in the pics. You'd want the 2 or 3 burner but they're not exactly cheap.

I've got the 3 burner and it's much better than the in-law's equivalent Weber. It would be overkill for 4, I've got 5 to feed and there's space to spare but comes in handy for bigger gatherings….can fit a decent size roast and veggies in there no probs.

Z&B is the home brand of BBQs Galore.
They stopped selling Weber as the rrp is fixed by the wholesaler and there wasn’t much margin.
They will push hard the Z&B as it’s in house brand so much more margin. In saying that they are not that different really. Both made in China.
They push these little balcony bbqs because they are all imported, the shipping Warehousing and storage is much easier for the wholesaler and the retailer.
If your were going to buy a Weber I’d buy a trolley or a kettle unless you live in a tiny apartment with no space.

Not sure about ziggies warranty but twice now with Weber I've just emailed them and they've sent parts out free.

      I'm Weber for life.

  • the ziggy is a great little BBQ I'd recommend the 2 or 3 burner though, I prefer the ziggy over the weber Q's

I prefer the ziggy over the weber Q's

      why?

      • +5

Weber Q's are designed to cook with the lid down, just the way they transfer heat.
The Ziggy you can use like a normal bbq grill with the lid up for steaks and snags or close the lid for faster cooking, roasts etc.

It gets a lot hotter than the equivalent Q.

JV did you look at the link I provided re comparison? Might give you insight as to why.

Still waiting for a Kamado Joe sale .. Maybe November.

  • Please don't show me something else to spend my diminishing redundancy pay on.

I've been jealous of the people downstairs who BBQ almost every night, even in light rain, for about a year. This would fit on my porch.

The only question is, this one or the 2-burner? I live by myself, but like the flexibility of having a grill plate and a hot plate, both large enough to look large-ish things like steak and corn.

get the smaller one, your gas bottle will last longer.

      • I was wondering about that. What if I only used 1 burner of the larger one when I only needed 1?

        • +1

          Get the 2 burner.
I've got the 3, use it twice most weeks, sometimes with 2 burners on low cooking roasts for 2-4 hours and a bottle lasts me ages!
But you're best off having a spare bottle anyway so you can run one right to empty and swap it without wondering if there will be enough in there or not.

          • @whitelie: I already did the maths on "need a spare bottle" because nothing would suck more than being halfway into a BBQ and running out of gas.

Next question: If I get a smaller bottle, how do I get it refilled? I know that larger bottles are normally just like for like exchanges for a full one.

            • @NWLikeShopping: Bunnings do the 3.7kg bottles as a "swap and go" as well as the 9kg. That would be your best bet if space is at a premium. Some servos would probably do them as well.
