    Can someone please explain to me why these electronic bins are so damn expensive? It's a bucket with a low-grade sensor and an actuator. Why are they $100+?

    I have one of these except it's not electronic and uses a foot pedal instead. Cost me <1/10th of the price.

    I got one from kmart about 4 years ago and ran on 6x D batteries - it was about $50. Worked really good but just recently the sensor crapped out. Unfortunately they dont have that model anymore so just settled on their bog standard foot pedal one for $20.
