    While I admit I’m not well versed in sports nutrition, my understanding is that these are a good, light source for getting glucose back in the body during long periods of exercise (ie. marathon).

    I don’t think calling them unhealthy crap is correctly recognising their use, unless there has been further study to show they don’t actually serve the purpose originally thought.
