      5G is the new B28 comment :-)

  • Looks good for the price point

Presumably loaded with annoying ads in essential apps.

    • -1

No. Mostly come from the apps YOU install.

      • +2

I think @diji1 makes a fair point. Unless @xywolap - Are you saying Xiaomi has changed in the past 2 years, and removed all ads from their OS?
They were 100% putting MANY ads in system apps and out-of-the-box OS features.

I've had 3 of them - Redmi Note 3 Pro, Redmi Note 4, Note 5 pro.

Their newer OS versions -MIUI10 etc - started putting ads in many many system apps including cleaner, file browser etc - ie not the "apps YOU install". Most of them could be turned off but were active by default. In the end I gave up using Xiaomi because it was getting to hard for me to Root and put a new clean Android install on them to avoid the MIUI OS.

The old Note 4 we still use, we use a non-root VPN level adblocker which is still blocking 100+ requests to Xiaomi trackers servers every hour, 24 hours a day.

        • Got a note 4x & a H version 5 and have never experienced any annoying ads apart from those in the free apps from the store.

That is an insane amount of phone for under $250

Shamefully no band 28. Ciao mi

    • +1

Global version usually means band 28 with Xiaomi. I think they have the specs wrong on the webpage.

    • FDD-LTE: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28
      From official website.

    • ALL Redmi Note 9 phones have 700mhz B28.

You can get an $8 coupon for subscribing too

        • +1

That's express shipping. It mentions free std shipping, but I gather that's going to take weeks, so keen to hear what ppl have experienced. Appreciate the $8 tip too.

            @DamonT:

            It mentions free std shipping

            Doesn't qualify :(

Isn't the one on TobyDeals a non NFC version? It was confirmed on the post.

some people might complain soc isn’t snapdragon, but for majority of others doesn’t matter it’s a phone and works.

xiaomi you get a lot of hardware for your money, wish they got more into android one

shortcoming with my past xiaomi phones was security updates were rare, and they dumped major android update from roadmap.

currently have nokia android one and updates security once per month and got major android version update (shipped with 9 now on 10).

Just ordered one to replace my Mom's A1 that has served well for 3~ years now.

Phone's like these seem like great parent phones, gets them all the features and nice cameras without breaking the bank, my mom isn't going to notice the difference between snapdragon and non-snapdragon.
