I highly suggest you place a Gig Router in front and use these as AP mode only (if you are looking for flexibility of a router and feature set).
Deco is a fantastic product set , I have combo of M5s and M9s but all in AP mode. How well do the M5s and M9s work together in AP mode? Do you still get the extra backhaul from the M9s?
I bought a pack of both from the good guys commercial site last week since I couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted, but I might use both now.
if you have a 2 or 3 pack of both definitely go with M9s.
I originally had 3 M5s and perfectly happy with them , M9 is my new primary mesh node while it does support Zigbee for my ZIgbee HA devices.
Overall if you bring M9 into M5 world , there is no advantage from WiFi perspective while M5s don't have dedicated channel.@SamyKn: I got a 3-pack of the M5s and a 2-pack of the M9s. Maybe I should buy another 2-pack of the M9s?
@videoman: It depends how big your place is or if you need 3 or more nodes mate, also if you have any option for hard-wiring them or not.
M9s are much more expensive , if you can return the M5s and buy a 2-pack of M9s, I personally go with that.
Price was main prohibitive point for me not going for M9s initially. How come you bought both? were they on super sale? :D@SamyKn: Yes they were on sale. The M5 3-pack was $180 and the M9 2-pack was $240 from this deal- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/560033
@videoman: good on you mate , i don't have access to GGC :(
Well reviewed and good price, cheapest elsewhere that I could find is $682
Just got Deco M5. Will consider upgrading when I have gigabit NBN plan or the price for AX mesh drops to $200 mark.
the issue is most people only benefit from that wifi6 speed for one or two very recent devices, most of the devices you own will take a few years to catch up, by that time there will be much cheaper and better router available.
Those are some awesome numbers. Must be the right router to get for these new gigabit plans.
