It's a review page for the 5000 series so unless people are specific it could be any model.
Though the last dell I used had to have it's power settings modified to stop the fans being turbo 24/7.
The problem with the review is that the review does not mention generation.
The review is like:
Intel core i7
- Some user provide feedback for Core i7-2600
- While some user about Intel Core i7-10700
There is huge gap in its generation.
Also people are more likely to come back and review something they're super unhappy with.
Some of the reviews talk about speed which makes me think a non-SSD model. Specs seem okay, but 15" is on the larger side for a laptop. I'd honestly look at the "Dell Factory Outlet" for something in the Latitude range if I were in the market. Business grade will generally last longer.
True. Bought a $1700 Dell Inspiron 13 two years ago with 8550u for work. The heat issue was severe. The laptop was terribly designed. My $600 Asus with 8250u (no graphics card) runs much smoother with the same game. The inspiron was famous for heating. Don't buy this for specs. Do some research on the latest one!

You only get a USB C port if the laptop is configured with Nvidia dGPU, and even then it's data only.
Look at "ports & slots" part of product details:

The days of proprietary docks and all that bs plugs/adapters are coming to an end thanks to USB-C, but the manufacturers are all so slow to implement - probably so they can sell more docks etc..

Why are people expecting powerful discrete graphics from a thin and light 2 in 1. Always check you understand the type of laptop before saying it needs a good video card…. I purchased a similar laptop recently and although it does have an nvidia card it's not a gt/gtx type card it's their mobile mx 250 which is barely better than the integrated ones… They make these thin laptops with igpu for battery life. If you want a powerful video card you gotta get a thicker laptop…
Zephyrus G14 is thin and light, powerful and the battery is great.
No webcam for those that may need it especially during the current WFH trends…

You didn't mention at what price point though. But yeah, not common to have discrete GPU in a thin & light laptop.
People need to understand that for most home laptop use (www, email, light photo/video etc) people simply don't need more than what an iGPU delivers.

If you're comparing the ThinkPad E15, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Core i5-10210U from the Lenovo website to this Dell Inspiron with a 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, i7-1065G7.
Then I can't see how a less RAM, smaller storage, slower CPU Lenovo Thinkpad E15 is a better deal!! Is this the laptop you're reffering to??

sure the Lenovo probs has better performance but there's more to a laptop than just performance.
I think this one has the standard screen compares to the 45% NTSC of Lenovo, that's like a deal breaker for a lot of people, also based on reading comments, you never know when you're gonna be getting your laptop when purchasing from Lenovo

@cheapjack: yeah okay, looks like this has a pretty bad display also. imo, if you're using your laptop everyday, you should spend at least 2k and get yourself a decent machine without tradeoffs.
This Intel i7 CPU is slower then the AMD R5 4500u in the Thinkpad deals posted previously. Also the chassis is consumer grade vs the business grade Aluminium/ABS of the Thinkpads. No way is it worth 2k for specs. I believe it's overpriced even now.
Dell doesn't even say if the screen is IPS, it's brightnesses and colour gammut. So they could be using a cheaper screen. Normally marketing brag about a good quality screen.

Agreed, if they don't gush about the screen then assume it's a crap panel. I'd consider a mid range spec laptop if it had a flagship quality panel but they don't seem to exist.

I have 15" and don't actually use it for gaming. 15" is really a balanced screen in laptop, not to big and not to small.
Yes. I bought it for $1112.32 back then.
Complaints so far :
- random 100% fan bursts when idling quite annoying (I tried everything can't get rid of that unless turbo turned off)
- runs pretty hot about 50c idle usually (single fan and heatsink/pipe)
- lid blocks heat exhaust when fully open
- CPU multiplier locked with latest bios
- lid won't open past a certain angle perhaps 135°
But overall I'm happy with it for the price (I never used unplugged though)
Is this in any way better than the Redmi Book which is about $200 cheaper
The Dell warranty will save you $200 worth of headaches should something go wrong.
I would avoid RedmiBook and buy Lenovo Gen 2. It's about as much as RedmiBook (sometimes cheaper) but with upgradability and warranty.
I honestly have no idea why people gush over RedmiBook. It's mediocre and price wise isn't that cheap, and you have no warranty.
I bought this 3-4 months ago when it was special.
The screen is IPS panel and it's great for the normal office type work.
Prepare to be patient about delivery. Our 1 August web order for a Dell monitor showed 3-4 days delivery before we clicked but this turned into 20 days once the order was confirmed. No sign of it as at 23 August, nor is it showing on the Dell site as having been shipped. However as a consolation prize we did get a get a nice email today thanking us for our purchase and asking how we rated the monitor.
Dell has emailed now forecasting mid September delivery
