that is a true comment - but these valves are more than likely useless looking things to make you look "cool"
you are 100% correct, i've been using this type of mask since march and when mask became mandatory in Vic, i then 3D printed new valve covers that effectively just blocks the air going through the valves and forcing you to breathe in and out via the PM2.5 filters.
