$320 for an AIO? Howly craaaaaaaap I knew this Boi was expensive but my gawd.

    • +4

I roughly remember 180 for AIO 4 years ago and that was expensive.

    • +1

      Not exactly Kraken value?

  • +1

    no bargain…

  • +1

jesus, whats the actual difference between this and lets say a $150 AIO?

I still get like 30-35 idle on my i9 lol

  • +3

I mean if you're not fixated on the display/LEDs, just get the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280mm when it comes back into stock, probably for a Prime Day sale.

Should be $125-$140, and it competes/outperforms this while having a VRM cooler.

    • Good tip. Had a quick look and couldnt find it in stock anywhere in Aus for under $200. Might keep digging.

  • +1

Been looking at the z63/z73 but was waiting for a sale. Didn't expect them to go on sale.

Also I think Coolermaster are coming up with a GIF AIO as well but not sure. Might wait for competition.

    • +1

I'd trust NZXT more than CM personally

      • +2

Don't these all use the same asutek patent for the pump block? Honestly didn't think there would be much difference between mainstream brands.

        • I think one of the Corsair ones, H115i perhaps, does not use the Asetec pump block which is a huge exception given it's ubiquitous otherwise, yeah

  • +2

Thanks OP, been waiting for either this or the 73 to go on a decent sale.

    • +3

Glad there’s one positive comment in here lol. Enjoy bud!

  • Besides being more neat, cleaner case and quiet.. Performance wise… Isn't it better to get a good quality cooler like nocture?

  • Can't comment on price, but pretty sure Linus showed that noctua d15 approximately equals any AIO liquid solution.

Of course this requires you have the space and airflow for the d15.

  • too all the cooler gods !
    I am getting a 3700x which has a pretty good TDP ( 65W).
Would I need to upgrade the cooling if I overclock ? would be good if I can sped that money on a graphic card. a bit on the budget here !

    • Yes you will.
There are some reports stating Ryzen's tend to heat up real quick and as a result could thermal throttle it. Check Reddit i think it was from there

I know you probably aren't looking to buy this, but just in case you are:

Please don't spend $449 on a CPU and then a further $300 just to cool it.

you might as well spend $700 and just get an outright better processor. It's not economical spending so much money on the cooler just to eke out single digit performance increases on the 3700x, you cannot overclock it very far.

It's not like the old days where overclocking got you double digit percentage increases in performance. Silicon lottery plays a strong part in how far you can squeeze extra clock speeds out of your CPU.

Memory speed is one area you can focus on though, I'd probably go shopping for high speed DDR4 Kits.

      • +1

100% agree. Adding onto this, silicon lottery is going away because the CPU components are being tested in a far more detailed manner and chosen more precisely for products. They are binning CCXs and then building their products around those groups (Intel not yet, but in "upcoming" products iirc).

That's why the 3950x can be undervolted without loss of performance - they're the absolute cream of the crop CCXs.

That's also why you can't overclock very far at all anymore. In the past CPU manufacturers made such varying quality chips that they could only guarantee 4.0GHz or 4.2GHz, but then most of the time you could just OC to 4.8-5GHz anyways. Now, they know a chip will only do 4.3 so they put in a product guaranteed for 4.2

      • that is very true.
That's why I went with 3700x from the famous 3600x. and the reviews are pretty good for the included fan.
        Thanks for the tips

        • +1

included fan is decent kind of but its noisy

3700X is rated at 65W but will pull about 90W max. Coolers like this are for 3950X which pull about 145W.
Just stick with the 105W rated standard Wraith Prism at first. Swapping out a cooler takes almost no time. So, try dialing in your settings. If your temps are higher than you want, THEN change the cooler - so long as you have any cooler properly connected, the chip will throttle itself before overheating to the point of damage anyways.

If on a budget, wait until testing comes back of newly released A520. If they support Precision Boost Overdrive and you're happy with a 65W chip (I would be, unless you're a 3D rendering movie editor or the like) then save more cash and get one of those. You won't be able to properly leverage a 3950X with it, but since a metric shitton of people bought R5-3600+X570 so they "can upgrade to a 3950X" then prices on the very scarce 3950X isn't going to go significantly down to the point where I am betting my money it'll just be cheaper to move onto the next platform.

      • I thought to push my budget and try to settle for a mid range x570 so I can benefit from down the track upgrades. lets say in couple of years.
My dad always says I am not that rich to go for the cheapest ! I rather wait and save and go with a bit better so in long run it saves me money. So I think x570 would be the choice if you are planning to keep your system up to date to a longer time. what do you think ?
Good to know about the A520 release though. Thanks

Ten thousand!? We could almost buy our own ship for that!

    • +1

But who's going to cool it kid; you?

  • +1

I spent $500 to WC everything in my PC…all custom. This price is rip off

  • +1

The software needed for this, NZXT CAM is atrocious.
Hogs system resources and opens multiple network connections even in guest mode.
Just do yourself a favour and don't buy this.

  • If you haven't seen it already, this is informative.
tldr; water cooling is still a somewhat niche requirement.
Having said that, I still bought https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0829RTMKY to replace a failing cooler master pump AIO.
    YMMV :)

    • Curious to know why you think it’s failing?

      • +1

I've been experiencing intermittent temp spikes from 40c ramping up quickly to 70>80>90>thermal shutdown.
This is on a Ryzen 7 2700X while being practically idle.
There are potential issues with maybe incorrect temps being reported but I cannot guarantee that it's false so to be safe, have to shutdown / sleep.
My only conclusion can be that it's either incorrect data or a failing pump (as the fans are running ok).
AIO are (apparently) supposed to run the pump at 100% (source but my current AIO (cheap) only has one connector which I have on the AIO header but which means I cannot independently control pump and fan speed.
