    USB 2.0?

    • At least it's not using the serial port.

    • yeah USB 2 = 480MBit/s 4k video, even at higher frame rates, should only be about 150MBps (compressed) so USB 2.0 should be plenty fast - but really depends on the type of compression, can get down to 70-80MB for really good lossy compression.

      • +1

Generally USB 2 with MJPG compression for UVC. You don't tend to get H.264 or H.265 compression on these cheap devices…

Nitpicking here, but you should use "Mbps" for bits, not "MBps" as "MBps" implies bytes.

        • +1

opp, yep, 100% correct. makes a massive difference LOL. i should be paying closer attention, that was a sh!t post! MB/MBps and MBit/s

  • @30Hz

    Isn't that a bit too slow ?

  • Support output max resolution 1920x1080@30Hz

Oof. What are the other output options? Can you at least get 720p@60Hz?

  • Can this turn a Camcorder to be a webcam?

    • Yes. Make sure the camcorder has clean HDMI output. Otherwise, the menu/settings will be visible.

  • Can I use this for dual monitor purposes?

    • +1

This is a "Video Capture" - input only. It's not for output to a second monitor.

could you please tell me which one should I look for?
I really need two monitor attached to my laptop (Is this possible)

I have an acer aspire M5-581tg
only 1 HDMI and two usb 3.0

        Sorry newbie
        TIA

You need an adapter or docking station that supports "DisplayLink" (NOT "DisplayPort" which is totally separate thing).

They're not cheap because it is essentially a separate GPU over USB so they aren't like a $20 cable thing.

          Here's a couple from Amazon:

          https://www.amazon.com.au/Wavlink-Universal-Docking-Ethernet…

          • @bchliu: Thanks for your reply.
I almost bought a wrong ones.

Do you think these DisplayLink will cause a significant drop in performance?

            I really appreciate your reply

@mazuko: The USB 3.0 ones are alright - but don't expect to play games out of it. They're great for office and internet stuff that you want to use another screen on. Movies should play alright out of it too. For the docks or hubs that also have USB on it, note that the performance will suffer if you are using it for USB Drives and reading/writing lots of data.

  • Hi Rep, has the usb c dock with 4k 60hz come out yet? Also if you have a Av usb capture device I would be interested, I want to convert some vhs tapes to digital. Thanks!

    • Hi aznsniper

We haven't AV usb capture yet. Maybe will have a try

Thanks OP. I just bought one. What software do I used on on Mac to capture the video? Thank you.

    • can work with quick time player.

Got mine a few days ago. Did a brief test, seems to work fine. I haven't compared it to other capture devices yet, but it definitely does the job for applications like Zoom.
