The cheapest elsewhere for this particular hard drive is $89: http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=samsung+s2+1tb
… On the other hand, I'd rather spend the extra $9 than deal with CotD.
It is the norm for a USB2 1TB pocket drive.
BUT… hard drive prices are going up. If you need a portable hard drive, get one now. Check MSY prices… and you might be in for a bit of a shock.
Right now, this one is reasonably priced. But COTD service has gone downhill lately (slow postage, poorly packaged).
Put the shipping cost of $6.95 in title.
Wonder if there is a standard 9.5mm sata drive inside. If so that is a very good price. Average price is around $180 atm.
I went HDD shopping today and everywhere in Melbourne has jacked their prices as a result of the thai floods except on a few external drives.
Unfortunately some drives like the WD Passport, are not SATA drives inside but rather are crippled with a direct USB interface card.
Could not say whether this is that case for this drive. I just bought a HP Simplesave for my Ps3 - as I know the 3.5 are just WD sata disks inside… hoping the 2.5 is the same!
Looks like this has the USB interface soldered on to it - hence no good as internal drive.
Thank you. ordered 2 as pices has gone up by $25 for them at my local.
Pretty awesome
USB 2 for 1TB deal breaker for me
I paid 127 for one in June but it's already full with all the new tv shows (Dexter, walking dead) and my personal backup hehe
I'm going to get this one as well.
This is now the norm for a USB2 1TB pocket drive.
