Would be the cheapest we've seen the gigabit plan for on a temporary basis.

Referrer gets 10% off for 6 months.
Internet subscribers in most countries don't have this sort of pricing
To keep it in perspective Australia has roughly the same land mass as the USA with only 10% of the population. It's a VERY big area to cover for such a small population and this does result in higher pricing.
Of course dense metro areas subsidise the pricing in regional area, much the same as mining royalties are removed from the regions to be spend in the cities.
The alternative model to NBN is for the free market to cherry pick high density high profit areas. This is exactly what we had before and it wasn't working.
It is a great shame that NBN was altered to include vast swathes of FTTN in the network. We lost such a big opportunity to have a world class piece of infrastructure and still spend just as much building a bastardized patchwork version.
Hopefully we at-least see the FTTN portions of the network upgraded to FTTC sooner rather than later.
What is the likelihood that I can get 250/25 on a FTTC basis? Then getting those speeds over the woeful Netcomm NF18ACV router?
No chance until NBN say so.
So these deals are only offered to FTTH?
Yep & parts of HFC.
Can you stack this with a referral as well? or no dice?
Yes you can. It is a referral URL link actually for signing up - let me know if you are keen.
My POI (Karingal, Vic) through ABB was clipping 100% CVC regularly in peak times recently with ABB only drip feeding the increases slowly, bandaid solution not actually fixing the congestion issue.
Looking at Superloop CVC on my POI, they've averaged 40% CVC peak and only spiked to 60% CVC once in the last week.
That helped confirm it (in addition to the ABB price increase), so I switched from ABB 100/40 to Superloop 250/25 earlier today and couldn't be happier tonight, during peak tonight (8:20pm) Superloop look very strong: https://www.speedtest.net/result/9881112623
excellent decision - you won't regret the change, i just finished my first weekend with SL without any congestion and like you, my POI CVC graph barely crept over 50% where utilisation much higher on Aussie
Switched over to SL from Aussie today. 250/25 hfc. I used to get 275/23 on Aussie. Getting 255/23 on SL. Not quite as good but definitely not disappointed. Still getting more than I am paying for thanks to the over provision. And would much rather save the extra $10 a month for a year.
Superloop Rock! I finally got a referral out of the blue which really does help and makes it all more worth staying as the SL service for me on HFC on the gold coast has bee Flawless.
Great speeds both National and Internationally. Please sign up via the referral system as it helps out fellow Oz-bargainers. :)
NBN need to make FTTC upgrades for high speed or bypass it and go straight to FTTP.
