    Red. Must be fast

    • its 3.6km/s

The Ferrari F1 team begs to differ

  • Red hot :') like the sun

  • damn that's 20 cheaper than what i paid .. LOL and red adds another 200mhz at least to the speed.. :P

  • Building a video editing system based on a Ryzen 9 3900x.
Does anybody spot any problems with putting two sets, so 32gb together?

    • +1

      nope.
only down side is that you use all your ram slots.

if you get 2x16gb then you can add more ram later if you ever wanted to. Although 32gb is should be pretty good for most applications in the foreseeable future.

      • Cheers mate

        • haven't looked at prices for 2x16gb kit recently but if it were similar price i would go for that.

      • Isn't it better performance wise to utilise all channels?

        • I'm under the impression things are smoother and ram can run faster with 2 rather than 4. (Happy to be corrected)

But unless you are an enthusiast. (Interesting in getting best overclock/benchmarks) It really doesn't matter.

          • @[Deactivated]: It depends if your motherboard is t-topology or daisy chained. Most motherboards are daisy chained so use two sticks in that scenario.

    • I'm building a similar system too. Do you mind sharing which video card you've got?

      • I have not bought one yet.

Im waiting for a good deal when the new cards launch in september. Its not a critical buy for me, but budgeting about $700

    • YES! On Ryzen 3000 there's no way the IMC is doing 3600MT/s on 4 sticks.

      • +1

Not true, there are many people running 3600mhz 4x8gb, some even 4x16gb. Ryzen 3000 IMC is significantly better than 1st or 2nd gen

        • I've never seen that. Always heard it usually hard caps around 3200 for dual rank, unless that's people who didn't tweak their SOC.

          • +1

@Void: Nope, recent windows updates and chipset drivers (moreso the latter) provides VSOC with the proper safe 1.1v (some less, some more)

      • I run 4 x 16GB gskill trident z rgb 3600Mhz CL16-19-19-19 on my X570 Aorus Pro, running at the rated xmp 2.0 profile no problems for more than 8 months.

You need to update your bios and ensure that the ram and mobo is on the qualified vendor list. So it works.

So yes 4 populated slots will be more demanding on the mobos memory controller. The aorus range of boards pretty much use the same controller and its a decent one too.

        • The memory controller is on the CPU not the motherboard, its the memory traceouts that are different between MOBO's

          • @NigerianGirthLord: Thanks for the correction.

Either way the Gigabyte Aorus range of boards have the same "traceouts" across them and they are good. The point is you can run 64GB of ram at the rated speeds if its on the QVL.

I couldn't trust the Asrock X570M board reading the reviews of issues running at the XMP rated speeds with 4 Dimms. Took my chance on the Aorus pro instead.

  • Approved bargain

  • $122.97 for the black version ( US via AU)

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Crucial-Ballistix-Unbuffered-PC4-1…

    • It's sold out now, you guys are fast.

  • Too tempting … Damn it

  • Hmm, Black or Red?

    • Always bet on black

    • Can never go wrong with black

    • Is it worth an extra $25 for the RGB model?

      • +1

If you want the extra performance from the looks of the RGB, then sure

    • Which one has better resale value?

  • Does anybody know if 4x of these would be less good compared to a 2x16GB setup in regards to Dual Channel

    • +1

I have the white RGB version of this ram and 2x8gb 3600 run slower in the benchmarks vs 4x8gb 3600 on a 3700X MSI B450 Mortar Titanium

But these 8gb stick are single rank so when using 4 you have 2x dual rank mode.. even though MSI board use daisy chain for the memory i still get an improvement populating all ram slots.
