  • Hi there, do these have genuine coffee ground inside or are they instant coffee granules?

    • "Packed with 100% roasted and ground coffee beans and sealed to lock in the freshness"

      • Thank you. Any thoughts on how this might compare to L'or capsules?

        • I like lor caps, haven't tried these yet, but going to put them on my shopping list.

          Here's my experience:

          Illy > Moccona > L'Or > LavAssa

        • +4

My pod rankings: illy > L'or > Moccona > Lavazza

          Tried all of them recently.

        • Thank you guys for all the comments, they are very informative. Based on these comments I am going to assume the quality is similar between Moconna and L'or; and give Moconna a go while it's cheaper.

          • @BlueSkyAPI: They're both made by the same company in France. I find them to be roughly equivalent to each other, however I prefer the Moccona Lungo over the L'Or version.

            • @Tsuivan: I stopped buying pods from the supermarket for this reason, they are made in Europe so the transport carbon footprint of getting these to your local supermarket is quite a lot. I realise pods are bad in general, but if I'm going to use them I choose one that are roasted and manufactured/packed here in Australia to support our local economy/jobs. There is a pod manufacturer based in SA that has a subscription offer where they are 37c per pod (search for urbanbrew) and they use plastic that is biodegradable. There are a plenty of other suppliers in Australia, we have great coffee so support your local industry.

@BlueSkyAPI: We alternate between lor and moconna depending on what's on special when we shop. Usually will pick moccona if both on sale but both are good

  • These things never puncture properly in my Nespresso machine.

  • +1

These work perfect in the L'or machines, have been using these for a long time.

The cheapest price at Costco for the Moccona Ristretto box of 60 is $20 on special, that is $0.33 per capsule.

These capsules are quality coffee with an excellent crema.

Good bargain for a Nespresso compatible machine.

    • Got the L'or machine from the mother's day deal. When first swapped over from my Nespresso Essenza Mini I definitely felt the L'or machine extracts a lot better - more flavour.

      • I’ve become addicted to the L’Or double shot Baristo pods I got with the same deal.

  • +1

They need a fresh version of the Kenya Jar in pod form.
Pretty much the only jar coffee I like, thanks to work.

  • Are these compatible with Nescafe Dulce Gusto machines?

    • +1

Nope, Nespresso capsules don't work in Dolce Gusto.

    • Costco has a good price on dolce gusto, otherwise wait for a sale by Colesworth

  • +2

    Vote for no.10 and no.12.

    • Bought 22 boxes: 17 no. 12 and 5 no. 10

  • what's the difference between Lungo, Espresso or Ristretto?
i don't know which one to buy.

I have the Nespresso Gran Lattissima machine, don't judge me. lol

    • maybe it has to do with the intended shot volume?

    • +2

      Have a read of this

Basically how much you extract from the pod, Ristretto being the smallest, Lungo being the biggest.

      • so lungo has more coffee in the pod? wouldn't you just buy lungo no matter what setting you put it on since it has more coffee?

        • It's the same amount of coffee in the pods, they are all 52g packs regardless of whether you buy Ristretto, Espresso or Lungo.

The pods are just designed for whatever coffee type the pods are (Ristretto, Espresso or Lungo). Found this on Nespresso site elsewhere:

Can I Make a Lungo Using a Nespresso Espresso Capsule?
This is actually quite important – you should not make an espresso using a lungo capsule or vice versa! The coffee blends and their respective flavours are put together specifically with the extraction time in mind. Extracting an espresso capsule super slowly and with more water will just result in a weak, overextracted espresso that won’t taste like it is intended. Similarly, it would be impossible to extract the full flavours of a lungo from a Fortissio Lungo, Vivalto Lungo or Linizio Lungo capsule by extracting under higher pressure and for a shorter period of time.

          • @hamza23: My local was out of Lungo so using Espresso for lattes. Absolutely fine.

Been smashing these since working from home.. They're good.

  • I know one person has mentioned that these don't pierce properly in their Nespresso machine, but has anyone else had this issue?

I experience this with Vittoria pods. Half of them go to waste because the machine just doesn't pierce the pods.

    • no trouble piercing for my machine
