HN has this sweet deal for $796, its the same laptop as the deal going around from shoppingexpress except the 4GB ram, blue-ray player, the $55 price difference (cheaper)& $150 worth of Freebies or Office 2010 Student.
i guess if you're really intent on getting 8GB ram you can always just buy a 4GB stick of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM for 30 bucks and stick it into the empty slot.
It comes with a permanent (not a trail) genuine free copy of Office 2010 student (1 user)!
either way the main reason i like this deal is for the 2 GB of DDR5 switchable graphics card. this is the first time i've seem a laptop with 2gb dd5 gc under $800 - pickup.
i bought the one from shoppingexpress just a few days ago and i've got absolutely no regrets what so ever, it a very nice piece of tech.
Some HN stores are giving customers the option to choose between the office 2010 or $150 worth of stuff from their store. so free HDD's, monitors, games ect would make a it an ever nicer deal.

      as far i can tell its got a metal cover, palm rest, and top frame but the bottom is the usual hard plastic which in a way makes sense as you would want the metal on the bottom cause it would conduct the heat to you lap.

      Most of the Pavilion DV 6 's have very similar specs and they are made with similar components. some have 1 gb rrd5 some have 2, some have larger HDD's, some higher screen resolution some lower, some with energy saving processors etc but for a given price range they are usually very similar. so except for the ram and blue ray player its exactly the same laptop

    The harvey norman website says it comes with Microsoft Office. That makes it an even better deal than the 6146TX deal. What is the difference between 6136TX and 6146TX? Can't imagine having a different model number with everything the same.

    i'll put the full specs up if you guys want, you can go compare it yourselves the laptop is exactly the same except the 4 RAM and Blue ray player. though you get the free office student with HarveyNorman

    I would happily pay $25 more ($55 saving - $30 for 4gb of RAM) not to shop at Harvey Norman.

    Also according to the specs the DV6-6136TX's Optical Drive Type = DVD Super Multi and not Blu-ray like the DV6-6146TX.

      The starter edition is what comes with the laptop. Pretty sure the "Special Offer Free Microsoft Office With Your Computer Purchase!" will be Harvey Norman throwing in a free home edition.

        Went to jb yesterday. It only had 2.0 usb. They were not blue like 3.0 ones are normally.
        Same model.

        But $400 more haha.
