  • Is this any good?

  • Www soldered ram…

    • only reason this is an issue is upgrading in the future, otherwis you'd never touch it.

    • +1

One soldered RAM and one DIMM slot so it's still user upgradable in the future but a bit limited.

      • Oh that's better

      • Can I ask you to explain a little bit more about this plse.
I'm interested in this laptop but not too technically minded.
        Thanks

        • +1

That means the laptop already has 8GB RAM soldered on the main board, which cannot be replaced. However it also has a single DIMM slot to add additional memory, up to an extra 16GB, making the maximum amount of memory this laptop can have 24GB (8GB + 16GB).

The previous generations of ThinkPad E-series 15inch would have 2x DIMM slots & no soldered RAM, making them capable of up to 32GB of RAM.

          • @scotty: Thanks for that.
I've ordered one with an extra 8g ram and a 512 GB SSD drive…
Should be ok for the money

    • Yep, as Scotty said the SODIMM slot means you can have up to 24GB in total, which should be fine for a laptop of this class.

  • Cheaper if you have a education email ($869.00)- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/549085

    • The one here is the 15" model

      • +1
        • Yes I see said the blind man :)

        • What's the price with 16GB and 512GB for E15 with an education email?

          • @Shahw: If you upgrade it, it’ll be a bit more expensive than this deal

            • @azm: you are right @azm. It works best without any customization…

  • Is this one with a 8GB ram upgrade & SSD upgrade to 512GB any cheaper than the one here ? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/553165

    • +1

      same price

      • Thanks

        • Cant get it to work at checkout though. Am following up with CS to see.

          • @Batz: I did get $1002 before checking out. It went up to $1200 on the check out page and the coupon code does nothing to the price.

            • @he88388: Working now, just ordered 24GB ram and 512 SSD for $1049.

  • +1

Something has gone wrong with the website. Can't place online order. The price is higher than the previous deal anyway.

  • Integrated battery?not removable?

    • +1

The only way you can have a non-removable battery is if they create the battery element by flowing liquid metal through a dissolvable substrate designed to fill device cavities between the main components (something several phone manufacturers have been working on for a few years, but no one has brought to market in a consumer device yet). AFAIK all consumer electronic devices continue to use sealed batteries that can be removed and replaced with the right tools.

Unless what you're talking about is the battery isn't easily replaced with little latches on the bottom, which was standard 10 years ago but is virtually non-existent these days. I can assure you, the batteries in all modern ultrabooks aren't particularly difficult to replace, but yes you do have to split the shell apart and usually remove security screws to do so.

      • Ah ok, my personsl laptop from 2012 has removable batteries.

Never noticed my work one being non removable

    • +1

The battery is held captive by a few screws, it's not glued down or anything. And it's attached to the motherboard with a cable that you can unplug.

Will we see the Flex 5 AMD any time soon?

    • Yeah I'm also waiting for the Flex 5, this would have been a good compromise but for no touchscreen

  • Has anyone been able to get the 16GB RAM and 512 SSD to checkout at $1002? It keeps bumping up to $1202 when it gets to the cart for me.

    • Likewise. Price went up at the checkout page. Plus there was a warning of long shipping times too.

      • I have confirmed that $1002 is the correct price, there is an issue with the site. They have said "check back later".

  • Guys

Chat with an agent and share the Cart ID. It's just below the price in the checkout page.
They will do something about it.

  • Anyone claimed Price Guarantee purchasing from Lenovo for Amex Altitude Black?
Paid $1004 on the 13th July from Education Store, its now showing up for $909. E15 4500u with 16gb/512GB

    • Where did you get $909 for 16gb/512SSD? I get $909 with 8GB/512SSD

      • +2

There was bug yesterday, it showed at that price. Its now back to normal

  • If anyone is still watching this, the cart is back to working now.

250 nits is pretty woeful screen brightness. It'll be difficult to read in sunlight. As one of the key parts of a laptop you'll be experiencing every day, I'd suggest looking at something with a brighter screen.

Flip side, if you expect to plug this into external monitors to work, it's a non-issue.

    • I just got mine, brightness is pretty good for me. My old laptop was 220 nits. So this is marginally better
I have mine connected to 2 monitors so its not an issue, might be an issue for some

Do you still get cashreward cashback with Lenovo's coupon applied?

    • I received a tracking notification from cashrewards - but I purchased mine from the Education store.

      • Is it cheaper in the education store?

        • Depends on the configuration you are after. This confirg (8GB/256GB SSD) was $859 (with Fingerprint reader and IPS screen - $869 - which is what I ordered). Cashrewards returned $26.

If you go for additional memory and SSD, then best to avoid education store.

          • @giu: I see. I upgraded an extra 16g ram and 512g SSD. Also upgraded fingerprint reader and IR camera for $1078. Hopefully the shipping time is not going to be in October.

      • I pay via paypal and it has not tracked on Cashrewards. Perhaps paypal don't qualify for Cashrewards.

  • i have recently recieved a new E15 gen 2 model. Now I recognized that the right side from my bezel (the edge around the laptop) is lose. The left side is fine, but when I press on the right side, you hear a clicking noise.

Is there someone here who has the same problem or same laptop without this problem? Maybe this is a normal case but I don't think it's normal.

Hopefully you guys can help me :).
