No curved, no deal. Ultrawide screens needs to be curved in my opinion otherwise they look strange.

    • Depends how close you are surely? I sit a good 3 - 4 feet from my screen.

      • 120cm away from your screen???? Your saying you could fit a small child laying down between you and the screen?!?!

It might actually be closer to 4ft… I sit in a lounge recliner and the PC/monitor/speakers sit on a bench hanging off the wall, the wide arms suit the mouse pad and the keyboard is in my lap. And yes, Ive fallen asleep here more than once. Im 6 foot and can flip the recliner out without issues.

          • @Tuba: sounds like a nice comfy setup.

          • @Tuba: I'm exactly the same. Got a Ekornes stressless chair and have a pad on the armrest and the keyboard on my lap and multiple nanny naps occur in this comfy position.
Leaning back I'd reckon I'm 1200mm from the screen.

Maybe it is a personal preference but I've been using a 34" curved monitor at work for almost 2 years and I'm still not used to it. Must be all the years looking at a flat screen and I haven't adjusted, so I still prefer the flat screen.

      • It definitely is personal preference.

We have Dell U3415W at work. Now working from home, the normal flat screen just isnt the same. You can clearly tell that the sides of the screen are smaller than the middle due to viewing angle.

      • I adapted super quickly to my curved screen at home. Went back to my flat monitor at work after a few weeks off and it felt like an old bubble CRT.

Seems you're right - that it must depend on the person.

    • I've been using non curved 34" for more than a year now and it's fine. You can pay about $60 more and get the Samsung curved though.
Doesn't seem like this is that great… Does it even have free sync?

    • I bought this today to replace my acer x34 non p version since it has a loose dp port and keeps unplugging itself now. only notice that the very left and right edges get a bit of colour distortion from viewing angle, being about the size of the windows task bar. Other than that not much of a difference from the x34, but that one had a 1900R curve so it wasn't even that noticeable to begin with.

For an extra hundred from amazon au wouldn’t that be worth it? Honest question. Not sure why you’d risk issues/warranty/OS shipping etc for a hundred bucks.
    Unless I’m missing something?

With cashback, it's about $810 or so from Amazon. OP just edited the price so it's really a $15 premium for warranty and Amazon support (especially dead pixels, quick and easy returns with Amazon with zero out of pocket costs).

    • Yeah sorry, but updated price with tax and duty etc makes this a bad deal vs Australian stock.
      Sorry OP :/

    • Agreed, this is a bad idea.

Your maths are incorrect. Duty and tax is applied on product+shipping, not just the product.

    • Sorry, the moderator added the Duty and Tax as I missed it.

  • BingLee sells the same model for $849. Local stock, warranty and with pickup.

I'm using one at the moment, the screen real estate is phenomenal, although I wish it was curved but with 34", 144Hz, 1440 and IPS at this price, I'm content.

  • Get the new aoc monitor instead.

    • Model? Looking for a decent gaming monitor locally

        aoc cu34g2x

I would recommend calling stores and confirming stock first. There's a nation wide delay on the next shipments.

        • VA screen?

  • 250 nits, this is pretty dim.

Damnit, already ordered the xiaomi. Would have paid the extra $200 for ips

    • why?

      the xiaomi is curved..

is IPS that much better than VA even with the IPS glow issue?

  • Wait, there is a 34 inch non curved monitor?

  • Tempted but back light bleed is not great
