Super reliable merging software for PC/Mac/Linux.
If you spend time coding and having to merge, this can be integrated into your VCS to handle complex comparisons.
It is also able to merge folder structures and ignore custom grammar, such as comments and whitespace.
I've found that it easily pays for itself for the amount of time saved.

It's a very good idea to buy this if you use it.
There are many pirate versions available, and many (all?) have a virus/trojan attached.
The way that it's targeted by virus distributors implies that a lot of people want/use it, which implies it's the best tool for the given task.
IMO it's one of the best out there. I even paid to use it for business use when it was single platform. Now it's multiplatform, available for Linux, Windows, and Mac, it's invaluable. It can also be used for git compare etc.

Does it have much more than DiffMerge by sourcegear?
It handles binary files and does Hex comparisons, also supports images and zip file contents, and can even be configured with plugins to support comparing things like Access MDB files.
The comments make me excited for it.
But I'm still not sure what I'd use it for. Tidying my itunes library?

I've been using Beyond Compare for years. Highly recommended for anyone comparing files on Mac, Linux, and Windows.
