50pcs / 100pcs 3 Layer Disposable Face Mask $19.90 / $36.90 + Free Express Delivery @ Outbax Camping eBay

13211

With this out of stock and with Dan Andrews just making wearing a face mask mandatory from Wed July 22nd, I think $19.90 / $36.90 for 50 / 100 pcs is quite a good deal. Cannot vouch for the quality as it's my first time buying too. But, something is better than not wearing not a mask, and if you just want something cheap to avoid paying the fine.

Link to 100 pcs here.

Just ordered 100 pcs, arriving 22nd July, just in time.

              • @jayboi: "jayboi" I find some of jv's jokes funny, although often a bit dry for some.

He/she does also comment with helpful advice too.

Who are you to tell people to stop making comments anyway.

When he/she is out of order and get's reported, the penalty box takes care of that for a while lol.

                  • @Megahowler: I don't often get triggered by comments from strangers online.

I actually enjoy most of his/her comments for something different.

Can the mods set up a specific COVID-19 tag or thread where deal's for the likes of facemasks and hand sanitizer can be posted and easily found? Given the state of things at the moment, this would be helpful… Thank you 😊

    • +8

There is a COVID-19 tag. Not everyone bothers to use it though.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/event/covid-19

      • -4

Couldn't OZB pay someone to check the front page every now and then and tag stuff properly. There's thousands of dollars for charity, but what about ease of life improvements for OZB itself so it can go on to make thousands more for charity.

        • Good idea but shouldn't need to take it away from charity.

          • -1

@arcticmonkey: If it is an investment in OZB's future then it helps charities out in the long run. The OZB competitor that eventually might become more popular may not be as generous as OZB was.

  • +7

    Was $179?

    • +8

ikr, cracked me up real good..

    • +5

Honestly, some flog is probably successfully selling them at that price elsewhere.

I think for the near future, just going to have to ignore the was price for everything and go by 1) what you know it should be priced at; 2) how much it's worth to you.

Buy 200 from the same seller for only $59.90 and if you are an eBay Plus subscriber use your $5 off coupon to get it for even less

      Made in china?

      • +17

…yep, but not sure where the masks were made..

        • -5

evidence? comments like this only fuels hatred.

        • Wuhan they selling back the shipments sent there before

      • +7

Likely made in China. One of the main materials needed for face masks is manufactured mostly in Wuhan (for masks made in China).

It is relative though, even 3M have factories in China making masks.

          • +8

@whooah1979: Sounds like a good business plan! How about starting a conflict, progress to a war then start selling weapons? Profit!

          • -1

@whooah1979: Well, they did receive large donations of PPE and masks from other countries when it first broke in China, only to sell the donations back to the same countries when it appeared elsewhere.

        • It's ironic when that's where it all started

  • +14

    …please buy re-usable/washable masks instead

    • +5

Got any recommendations for a good reusable and washable one?

    • +2

While I agree with this, getting anything of good quality right now will not happen quickly.

I personally use ones from aliexpress with filter pockets with filters in them, I know they aren't amazing but they are definitely better than nothing. Yes, they're Chinese, no I don't care. Most these things are made overseas, it's just a fact. I'd rather use these than dozens and dozens of single use masks.

Good brands are yogmask (good luck), Cambridge (taking preorders) and ausair are about to hit the market finally but they've gotta ship to 1000's of kickstarter backers and indiegogo backers before retail, due to ship end of the month (I'm waiting for some of these personally).

    • You can't wash masks. You can wet them with a little detergent and water, but that won't clean the filter. If you machine wash them you will destroy them. Most recommend sunlight and alcohol wipes to 'clean'.

A respirator would be a better less waste option. I know they look a little over the top, but they are designed to OH&S standards with known useful filter life, they provide a more secure fit (as they are designed for life or death situations, not fashion/comfort) and they are easier to properly clean (being plastic).

      • There are washable masks… Just not surgical ones or Kn95's or any like this… Washable masks with filters are a thing. You just replace the filters and clean the masks.

  • +15

I purchased this last time. I guarantee the quality is poor. But It could relieve your concern because you wear something at least.

    • I would say you are right. Would be a buyer beware.

    • Wear two or three masks at a time I guess

  • +5

    Wear a scarf for free

    • +1

      Danny Andrews confirmed

    • Yep. Too many people trying to profit and make these into fashion accessories. This is about saving lives!

      • +1

Correct but it is also about keeping your contagious liquids to yourself and no infect others. So even taping paper towels to your face would do long as you change it over.

        • Now way All those people that hoarded 3 ply TP would use their retirement fund to cover their face!

    • Or wear a bra cup

    • +5

      Or wear a burqa.

      • +1

        Or a G-string

    • Just be aware that scarves/t-shirts/bandanas etc offer very little protection. Even home made masks and surgical masks have been shown to be significantly more effective. Also keep in mind that masks generally aren't going to offer you much protection, they are primarily to prevent people that are infected from spreading it. I.e if everyone is wearing masks it should spread less.

    • +1

Is the scarf $200 fine-proof? Government said MASK wearing and scarf wearing.

It was actually lax containment of someone's small brain

        • It's easy to pick out key events like this, but let's be honest we all saw how lax people got after the first peak.
People were so eager to get back out to bars and cafes and shopping.
Not to mention that big push for the Covidsafe app which thus far hasn't done anything.
I can't believe I was pushing so hard for them to release the source code for the app and it never even did anything for us anyway.

          • +1

Not to mention that big push for the Covidsafe app which thus far hasn't done anything.

Easy to pick key events isn't it?

Serious note. You are right about people being lax. We went to IKEA early on Saturday like 10am and there was already massive queues so the decision is no longer to go out to crowded places on weekends. Monday - Fridays non peak (lunch time and end of working day unless late evening).

COVID19 is a test of patience, most people have none.

            • @netjock: I think it's more of a test of IQ

              • @MementoMori: You are also right but I can guarantee you Australians profess to have high IQ. Just little common sense it seems.

    • +2

We know how to bring it under control. Our governments aren't willing to do it again. :(

      • +1

Totally agree with what your saying and would add that the advice is to stow your mask in a plastic bag if you need to take it off (and replace with a fresh one.. see BBC video). Personally the half assed approach that most people will take could make it worse, constantly handling a used one in their pocket.

Just remember to use hand sanitiser every time you touch your face/mask. Once before touching it to clear other people germs that are on your hands, and once after to clear the ones you just got from your own face. There's no point wearing a mask, taking it off, blowing your runny nose, then putting the mask back on, either you infect yourself or you infect others

    • +1

There is lots of point. You're not breathing out droplets all over people and things for the 90% of the time the mask is covering your face. Most people won't be doing what you say but the masks are still useful. They're going to be put off by your comment.

Most people subconsciously touch their face all the time. It's a very difficult thing to control.

    Down from $179…
No thanks. Not buying from sellers that were profiteering when times were tough.

      • +15

There is a clear line between supply demand vs profiteering.

      • +2

        lol that's stupid

    • +1

      @nsuinteger too right!

    • completely agree, if it was still sold at 179.
But its actually sold at lower than most other sellers.

All these masks are all overpriced. A pack of 30 from Daiso was only $2.80. Don't know if you'll find any more stock anywhere though.

I wouldn't support a seller that unethical profited from a pandemic (was $179)
