    I like Fisher Bats.

    The best!

    • +3

A $500 good cricket bat can be a good deal. Not to mention they can "make up" what they want for a RRP it's their product. It's your own judgement if it's worth it or not.

    • +7

Typically for $500 you can get grade 2 senior English willow bats at best. I understand that those not so familiar with cricket bats $500 might seem ridiculous. But have a look at Greg Chappell CC or other cricket places and you will find bats in excess of $1000. A players grade bat for $500 is actually a really good deal.

Watched your video, got to 2 mins and saw nothing but advertising about supplying something newer or better that is a Monster
The video seems like spam even if this is an actual deal.

    • +4

      That's not a valid reason for a neg…

  • -5

I doubt even the real players would spend $1200 on a practice bat.

    • +10

I would think “real” players are sponsored and don’t pay for their bats.

      • +6

OP is going to tell us that pro players use million dollar bats carved by blind monks, and each monk takes five years to carve just one bat and when they finish one they ring the town bell and everyone celebrates the completion of another bat.

        • +4

          +1 for the lol

Clearly this is a deal for anyone crazy enough to buy a $1000 bat that gets a dent when you first use it. Or will pay $1000+ for something that requires knocking in (if that's the term).

I'm not one of those people but it seems no worse than a cycling nutter who takes it too far.

Pro tip: money won't make up for a lack of skill. Nor will the bat help you with the ladies. The blokes at the club will love it though.

          • @justtoreply: Apparently you gotta knock in your bat for hours. That could be too much for people. However you can outsource your knocking in if that’s your thing.

            • @cheaponos: Sturdy offers free knocking in for all bats they sell. Or you can get it done with them for a small price.

  • Which player has similar bat which makes it a player edition?

    • +1

      Shane Warne?

Not sure about the bat but I had an excellent time purchasing a bat off them last year. No where in near me in Central Queensland sells good bats or preps them for a game but they managed to help me find a bat send photos of it through to ensure I was happy with the grain and weight and get it all ready for match at an awesome price including delivery.

This deal seems to be getting a lot of unwarranted (IMO) hate. Top of the line players bats are typically $1000+. So I find the RRP quite realistic. A players grade bat made in the UK from the best willow for $500 is a deal IMO. Might not be for everyone, but I don’t think this is something that deserves a neg.
edit: not to mention that they offer free machine knocking which I paid $25 for my bat.
edit: for those who still question the legitimacy of this deal, I challenge you to jump online and try find a players grade bat for $500 or less.

Just received a bat from a recent Sturdy deal the other day and quite impressed. $500 for players grade if legit is a decent deal irrespective of the RRP.

  • Thanks OP, bought 7.

    • 7???

    • +3

      None for the lower order?

      • +3

The lower order gets a bat in your team?

  • +2

TIL cricket bats are much more expensive than I thought

    • +9

No, good cricket bats are more expensive than you thought. You can pick up a serviceable stick for $150, but us cricketers have a remarkable ability to externalise our shortcomings and the usual victims are our team mates and the bat. Can't replace your team mates so fork out for a bat in the hope it brings your wasted youth back.

      • +1

You put my shortcomings into words much better than I ever could, and I appreciate that

      • you forgot the umpires and the pitch.

      This isn't reddit, champ.

    Sturdy you've done it again!!!

I remember travelling to Kashmir in India as a 7yo and got myself a famous "Kashmir willow" bat.
broke in the second week lol

  • I just wanted to play my stick ball game and now I'm broke…

  • +4

What's with the downvotes? People don't foget to upvote most ebay "BaRGAiNs" all the time -_- . Cricket bats vary in quality and price :/

    • +6

It's not a xiaomi charger for 12 cents cheaper than last week or a bunch of free ebooks no one asked for or will ever read.

  • +4

At 2.7oz that's going to have great pickup.

  • Dayum didnt know bats are that exi

  • 2.7 is too low to get good ping out of a bat for a SH.
How many grains will the bat have?

    • +1

I know. That's player grade vs the rest. Check out the video and you will be amazed what this light bat would be capable of in the ground.

    • 2.7 is plenty fine. I use 2.7 and alot of top level players use 2.7-2.9

Tendulkar is one of the weird ones with a heavy bat

I got a chance today to pick up this player grade willow from their store in Melbourne.Great bargain for $500. There were bats in other brands of similar quality for around $1100. Feeling confident to get some runs from it.

    • Good luck.

Let's hope not to get a Golden duck with your debut newly cricket bat.

  • How do these compare to the “player grade” bats from procricket.com.au, especially this at $399?

Also how about this or this from Decathlon?

    • They are less sturdy?

  • +1

Having dabbled in this market before, I can confidently say that anything over $500 at a shop for a "Players grade willow" is not worth it.
Plenty of manufacturers are happy to sell you players grade bat directly for $250AUD made to your specification (cheaper in bulk). I've gotten some awesome sticks this way.
All things considered this is a excellent deal from Sturdy.

  • +1

I purchased one of these sticks too.

I was impressed with the service.

I might even have converted my kids away from gray nicholls .
