  • Wired?

    • Online it says wired, 18m cables.

Seriously considering this, provided the reviews are positive.

  • I am new to all this.
Do we need a electrician to install these cameras?

If you don't know a good plumber or zookeeper this is a good place to start:
      https://ipcamtalk.com/wiki/ip-cam-talk-cliff-notes/

(No you don't need an electrician :) )

      • I thought the law said if you are putting cable behind the wall then it needs to be done by an electrician.

        I could be wrong though.

        • Don't know why you've been negged. You're absolutely correct (although replace electrician with cabler). Any in-wall cabling in Australia must be performed by a registered cabler. Whether it be TV coax, Ethernet (PoE or not) or 220V AC.

          • @Tacooo: I thought the telecommunications act only specifies fixed cabling as ending in a plug, not a socket?

@[Deactivated]: The ACMA specify that "Restricted Cabling" refers to indoor environments including concealed locations such as ceilings, false ceilings, internal wall space, under floor and damp situations.

This type of work can only be performed by a registered cabler who has shown competency/standard knowledge in that area and has obtained a Restricted Cabling License.

      • Thanks for the link

      • How do you plan to run power to these units? Just run a cable through an open window or do you have external outlets?

POE cameras require a network cable to power them, Anything like a cat5e.6.6a,7 or so.
and one cable per camera, (people have sliced and used 2 cam per cable but i do not recommend that)
Running the cables depends on the building structure , usually easier for a single story house as you get access to the roof. mine is double with a slab so i had to run it outdoors.
I got the outdoor rated network cables however still use conduit for extra security and durability.

however i would highly recommend something more like 4-5 MP cams wiht night vision and PIR.
1 TB might be enough for 1 week recording as this is just a 2 mp cam, but for anything with high res you want to have more space (2 TB min).

      • Thanks for the info.
I was trying to find if we can DIY or need a professional assistance but guess it is difficult if we dont know wiring stuff which I dont.

      • +1

There's nothing anywhere in the documentation suggesting these are POE. They use a standard BNC connector attached to an AC adapter to provide power.

it is 2 MP, keep that in mind. Personally would go for 6/8MP night vision.

If wired i would choose Reolink,
Have been Cheaper than this in past deals,

i personally have the 8MP version and really happy with that. Highly recommended and their support is great as well.

  • before you buy, just be careful to check the camera whether it's poe or analog.

no model number stated in ad but quick look at uniden website shows that it might be analog.

    • It's definitely not PoE. Comes with 8x BNC power cables.

  • Just ordered this to replace a Saance dvr. My other saance dvr is no longer on my network. Don’t trust them.

    Thanks op good price.
