Has something changed? It seems we are paying delivery for more and more items shipped and sold by amazon international. Fewer and fewer items are covered by prime.

    • -7

Well I mean, Covid-19 cases is only gettting worse, and more and more people are buying their shit online during these times.

    • +1

There are still plenty of items covered by Prime, it just depends if theyre sold from the Amazon US warehouses (covered) or not.

      • Yet this is shipped and sold by Amazon but no Prime.

        • I noticed that. Strange isn't it.

  • Good chance this is b-die according to a few forums…

    • What is b-die?

      • +2

tis ram that works well for overclocking

    • +9

This is not Samsung B-die, based on timings it just cannot be. I'm assuming the people on the forums looked at their Thaiphoon Burner report, and read Samsung B-die. Corsair did not program revision into their SPD, so Thaiphoon just assumes it is B-die when it is most likely Samsung C-die. If it were B-die it'd be more like 14-14-14-34 or 16-16-16-36 rather than 16-18-18-36. The proper way to check is to look at the sticker on the DIMM and see the revision listed. Samsung C-die seems to be able to hit high frequencies (3800+) pretty easily, but it falls short on timings. tRFC is around 310ns, and CAS latency can never go below 9ns without crazy cooling and voltages. So it does like 3200CL15, 3400CL16, 3600CL17 and 3800CL18, I have my kit running 3733CL18 at 1.34V due to FCLK limitations.

      • try bumping the voltage up to 1.41v
        leave it at 3733
        16
        16
        16
        34

but set your Command Rate to 2T ….

        • Samsung C-die?

          • @Void: yes .. c die :)

            • @da1nonly: And you're sure this isn't Hynix CJR? That seems really weird considering how the tRCDRD is at 16, that's more B-die-ish. 1.41V is considered unsafe so I wouldn't daily drive it.

              • @Void: it is safe up to 1.45v….. most of the time it depends on your controller… if you've got a good board and air flow… shouldn't be an issue running it at that high 24/7

                • @da1nonly: Source? If this is true then I'm just gonna run 3733CL17 daily, I have active cooling over the DIMMs.

I bought this from previous deal (locally from shopping express but has exact same timing). Micron Rev D I believe. (Definitely Micron). They are labelled v3.32.

Hitting advertised 3200mhz on ryzen 3700x and b450m mortar max motherboard.

The ram isn’t technically in the supported list (it’s listed but a different version, the supported version is Samsung b die). It’s a bit misleading Corsair putting different chips in the product without changing its name. Especially when product listings don’t specify what version is for sale.

      • This is suggesting Revision 4.32, so I believe it's luck of the draw. With Samsung C-die on the rise being manufactured on the new 10nm process it will probably be a more prevalent one, but I'm sure other ICs will also be in these kits depending on how new or old the stock is.

        • The major number in the version is the manufacturer, 4 is samsung, 3 is micron, I think 5 is hynix. 4.31 is samsung B-Die, I think 4.32 might be samsung C-Die.

My kit has exact same model number, same timings, just different version.

          • @davemac: Yeah just luck of the draw then. 4.32 is C-die.

  • Is this good to pair with 3800x?

    • +6

It's perfect for the price, sure if you spend another $50+ on 3600MT/s or tighter timings you might see 1-2% gains but that's not worth it.

      • Thanks for the fast reply! Ordered a set. Any recommendations for a motherboard for the 3800x?

        • +2

I think the X470 Gaming Plus MAX even for $189 at Centrecom is good. I asked why that B550M board on a recent deal is better and all I got was downvotes, so I don't have a straight answer as to why it's considered better. To me it just seems worse, being mATX and costing more. PCIe 4.0 isn't really gonna be helpful for anything but those SSDs, GPUs still run at 2.0 just fine. What price are you getting the 3800X for? The 3700X is typically a better value.

          • @Void: Got that 3800x the other day for $430 or so. Just now shopping for all the other parts to match up with it.

          • @Void: There was a recent deal on the 3800x which had it cheaper than the 3700x. Will this RAM suffer compatibility issues? I'm getting some compat issues with a couple of diff RAM I have.
Team 2400CL15 basic set won't post in dual channel.
GSkill 2666CL19 will suffer occasionally - i.e. once every month or so black screen/no post - pull one stick to single channel, boot up, then stick the other stick back in and it posts again.

            • @jkim: Hmm have you tested the G.Skill kit with memtest86 or TestMem5? If it's the Techfast one I have that with no issues, even overclocked it to 3733CL18. The Team one probably just isn't on QVL. Based on reviews I have seen the RAM working with no issues on Ryzen, so I think if it has issues it's probably just a faulty kit.

              • @Void: Yes, it's the techfast one, and yes, I have tested with memtest86 - comes up clean.
Think I should take it up with GSkill lifetime warranty?
It does not appear on the AMD compatibility website so they may shoot me down for that.

                • @jkim: Maybe you could try a more aggressive test, like HCI Memtest or TestMem5. memtest86 doesn't catch half the errors I get with TestMem5. But if it's having errors then the RAM must be faulty, because it's working just fine for me.

                  • @Void: Pretty sure it's this one: https://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/186/1535961914/F4-2666C19S-8G…
Only appears on the Intel QVL, not AMD.
I'll try TestMem5… same as memtest? just pop on USB as bootable and run? Never used before.

                    • @jkim: Nope you run it within windows. It's from some russian site iirc, but it hasn't stolen my data yet lol. That's the exact same model as mine, so it's probably faulty.

                      • @Void: OK I'll give it a whirl!

                      • @Void: tm5 came up clean.

                        • @jkim: Ok that's really weird. You're sure it's the RAM? Could be just that whenever you remove it it clears the CMOS. Even on my somewhat unstable overclocks it's never refused to post.

                          • @Void: Pretty sure it's the RAM.
When it occurs, nothing else fixes it except taking 1 stick out, booting, and then shut down put the other stick back in, and boot again.
It only occasionally occurs but is really annoying.

What MB do you run? I am not running the biostar supplied by TechFast… I'm using msi b450m pro-vdh.

          • +1

@Void: There was that UK deal earlier in the week for $440… Making it cheaper to buy the 3800x

B550m is more new hence why it costs more … Compared to when it initially came out I guess it's about 100 bucks cheaper than it was a month ago .. you're right though not much improvement over x470/b450… More of a gimmick…

        • As @Rajeh mentioned i also purchased the X470 Gaming Plus max, and i just purchased this memory to go with the 3800x. Just gotta wait for it all to arrive. Im hoping the RAM works fine with it. It did appear on the compatibility list for version 4.31, so should be good (?). Im not sure what version this is?

          https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X470-GAMING-PLUS-MAX…

      • Hi, sorry just to piggyback on these replies, I also got the same 3800x deal and was looking at ram. So something like this https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B083TRXZ98?th=1 is quite minimal gain for the cost?

        • +1

Yeah definitely not worth $375! Maybe if it was $220, anything higher wouldn't be worth it.

          • @Void: Legend mate, thank you!

        • +1

i'd definitely save that $175 on a better video card..

      • +2

ha ha ha ha - this is the best answer you could ever hope for - honest, no hype and straight to the point!

I actually did laugh out loud when I read this, as people seem to get caught up on things that just don't matter in terms of what 99.9% of users are doing. We are talking about improvements in terms of nanoseconds.

And then you get someone who cuts through it all and gives a great practical answer - well done sir!

        • Thank you!

I got this for $170 on a price error and it's been great for me.

  • IF you have a gigabyte X570, update to F20 bios. I had trouble with older bios and had to manually set all parameters.

But with the newer F20 bios all XMP settings work out of the box.

  • Hmmmmmm , AMD Support -> why is it different ?

    • I can't hit the full 3200MHz speed on my Ryzen with the non-AMD RAM, highest is 2933.

  • +1

I hit the 2933 limit as well with this ram on Ryzen. Swapped to the Teamgroup 3600 and had no problem with xmp settings, (so far) !

    • Timings?

      • for the Teamgroup? Not sure, just used the default xmp1 settings. xmp2 was the same. Am away from house where PC is for a few days now.

This is screenshot from Taiphoon before I upped the FCLK https://files.fm/thumb_show.php?i=9mzjwkke

  • If anyone wants to know,i received my ram. It was version 8.31 which i believe is Nanya. Either way, i selected XMP on my X470, and went straight to 3200mhz on my ryzen 7 3800x. No problems
