    Needs a 8GB version.

Also for those interested Pi Zero is available at core elec now - https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi-zero.html One per person only.

    • Also for those interested Pi Zero is available

Can you get the Pi with source?

us dads have to stick together.

    • Great price but no Wireless.

      • Wireless variant is almost double the price.

        • Depends… when core elec have it back in stock you can save $5 if you get it from them as it's part of amex shop small. :D

          • @Turd: Nice, I want one to connect to the SMA inverter.

        • +1

          But still under $20

      • More stock is due to arrive late August / early September 2020.

      • I got the same one was last week, $133 or something. So it doesn't support wifi connection?

        • +1

They are talking about Pi Zero, not Pi 4. Pi Zero has no Wifi, you need Pi Zero W for Wifi.

          • @netsurfer: Ahaa, nw. Finished setup this Pi 4 Complete Starter Kit with Pi 4 Model B 4GB RAM from LABISTS. Now lets see what I can keep myself busy with :D :D

Any simple but cool project ideas?

            • +1

              @prime47: Pihole
              Retropie
              NAS
              Plex media server

              Just to name a few.

You can even make it boot off hdd/ssd via usb3 port.

        • He's talking about the Pi Zero (as opposed to the Pi Zero W)

Why does a power supply cost almost double a mini computer?

  • +1

Just had kit delivered last week from a previous sale, and guess what the Fan has already failed! I have said this earlier excellent kit but the fan is useless.

what do people use these for these days?

      Pihole and linux server etc

      Magic Mirror

    • I have an old PC running Linux web server, do you think I can use this put the SSD drive across to get it to boot and work without reinstall it all again?

I did try put the SSD from an older PC to a new PC and it works.

      • Your old PC would be running x86_64 but Pi would be arm — different architecture so won't just run your old binaries.

        • Thanks that is what I thought. But the Pi really save a lot of space.

        • But canney have maw POWA!?

    • +1

      Docker server with micro services.
Paper weight and a lesson in voltage control.
      The usual.

    • Kodi

      • How well does the video playback work? I have a full HTPC with a core i5 CPU and onboard Intel Graphics 4000 and it really struggles to playback 1080 media running Debian & Kodi.

Really don't want to have to put Windows on it.

        • That HTPC shouldn't be struggling to play 1080p - I think something else is wrong with your setup.

        • What not just put a cheap ATI video card? I can put full 1080p, DTS HD Master, etc. I am using Windows and Mediaportal

        • I'm using Rpi3 ATM and no problems, plays back everything very smoothly. My Rpi 2 also works pretty well and I only upgraded to the Pi 3 cos it was on special here one day. :)

      • Vodafone TV I expect is so much better unless you want to mess around for the sake of it

Monitoring my solar and energy usage: https://solarspy.live/ (runs on a RPI 3B+)

      • Is it easy to install? where can we get more help? Recently installed solar system but no way of monitoring my usage at the moment.

        • If you are looking for easy, the DIY method won't be as you'll be fiddling with MODBUS maps, Grafana and Influxdb. My setup is customised for a Sungrow inverter, which at the time had a crappy app so I made my own. If you are comfortable with Python, you are welcome to fork my Github project (link on the SolarSpy site).

Try the Whirlpool solar forum if your particular Solar unit doesn't have an out of the box monitoring app. There are also after market energy usage appliances too that the Solar forum folks are more knowledgeable about.

      RetroPie

  • Open for all members now.

  • Isn't it just cheaper get the pi itself and source the other items as required. I have no issue of using a old mobile phone power supply for pi.

    • +1

Fair point, but some old mobile ps can't deliver quite enough power.

      • Yeah, not too old, you need at least one that can deliver 2.5A

      • Anko K-mart USB-C charger is $10. It can do QC/USB-PD as well.
Jaycar has one that's just pure 5V SB-C with up to 3A (I think $9), but it is an old model.

    • A Raspberry Pi 4 will boot on a mobile power supply but will almost definitely constantly complain about it (little lightning bolt icon in the top right corner) and may or may not function reliably.

    • The Pi 4 is significantly more power hungry than any Pi before it.

    • I did this but small differences in items, varying prices and delivery fees made some of it annoying.
As well as Covid mail times

  • Thanks OP. I got in just in time. Looks like it is up to $156.99 now.

  • All gone AGAIN arrrgh!

  • +3

Dang the 4 is expensive. Bring back the good <$60 3b bundles I say

That said, maybe I should grab a couple zeros and be done with it.

  • It is back again now for $143.99

    • Yup. Goooonnneee

  • Waitlist is now full

  • Good deal, pity it's over already.

For anyone interested in the new RPi High Quality camera module, RS components is the place to order one. It's out of stock pretty much everywhere, but RS have more coming in about a week, and their price seems lower than anyone else anyway (~$82 delivered, no lens included).
