EVC 302L Throttle Controller $229 at Repco

60

Looks like Repco have had this offer up for over a week but looks like a mint price at $229.

My hilux throttle has a nasty Spongy feeling flat spot in the accelerator pedal and I’ve heard these make a big difference.

Anyone else got one? What do you reckon?
Should I Pull the trigger?

  • Got my local Autobarn to price match as my Repco didn't have any. 100% worth the money. Used on 2012 Navara

    • Considering this for my STX, any improvement on fuel efficiency?
      My 4L guzzles..

      • If you press the throttle less then you'll use less fuel, so yes. Will also go slower.

Yeah I was gifted an ethrottle controller for my corolla, though not this particular one. Mine has 4 modes, Normal/stock/Off, eco, sport & race, with 9 steps in each mode.

Initially had it in Sport-5 and yeah it made the throttle response pretty snappy, which was fine when driving, though was really annoying at crawl speeds (i.e reversing, hill stop-starts, monash fwy parking lot hr) as my car was a manual and you cant gauge the throttle-to-clutch 'feel' very in this setting. I dialed it back to Sport-2 i think and left it there which is almost the sweet spot. I tried 'race' mode once and it felt like the throttle was going to neck itself.

    Hope this helps

    • Hey mate, with the throttle controller you need to set it to 'manual transmission' mode beforehand, have you done this? Not sure if it makes a difference though.

been looking at these, perfect timing!
I'll be putting it on my 2019 Santa Fe

TIP: goto the idrive website and find which model EVC suits your car.

  • Have had a few different brands and have a couple of the 'Windbooster' type at the moment. One of the cheaper brands but ultimately, they all do exactly the same thing. There's a GT version with a phone app which looks pretty good.

They all do the same thing although some tout having more features.

There's a limit with what you can do thru an obd2 port.

Also note how many have a generic 7 segment LED display. There's probably a factory in china that churns these out for $20 and the local dealer adds their market.

      • I'm pretty sure these don't use a obd2 port.

        • What does it connect to?

          • @bmerigan: Connects to the wires that go to your accelerator pedal. Plugs into the same socket once you disconnect it.

I rate the iDrive. I have one in my BT-50 and the responsiveness of the vehicle is fantastic.

  • Good demo of how these things work.

SPRINTBOOSTER invented these but obviously there are heaps of brands that probably have the same fundamental electronic components

  • Nice just ordered one been on the lookout as normally close to $299
