Are there any programmes on Binge that anyone recommends?

Chernobyl. Easy to knock out within the 1 month trial.

      • +11

        Chernobyl was amazing

        • +6

          I found it irradiating.

    • +3

mr inbetween was good, Westworld season 1, Avenue 5, they have a few gems in there. Can smash them out in the free month lol

      • +10

More people need to see Mr Inbetween, its downright amazing.

        • +4

Been waiting for season 3 eagerly. Hopefully it actually gets made.

Probably the best show I've seen in years, but I'm a fan of the genre.

        • +5

Some of the best Aussie TV ever made

          • +3

@R4: Right up there with Rake for me.

        • +3

Loved Season 1. Season 2 was very grim and I didn't feel it was anywhere near as funny as Season 1.

          • @strangeloops66: Reality hit home I guess. I see him making some life changes in S3.

          • @strangeloops66: Yeah season 2 took it's foot off the accelerator bit and got very serious. Still loved it though but the change of pace could be a bit jarring.

        • Sounds like a similar setup to Barry. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt5348176/

          • @fastnbulbous: Barry is more of a comedy and I highly recommend it.

What if assassins were very silly, funny and a bit sad? You would get Barry. I actually burst out laughing a few times watching this.

      • +1

Sounds good will give a try

        Mr inbetween and barry

      • Loving Avenue 5. Why didn't someone just say it's a space sitcom with Ethan Phillips (Neelix)!

    • +20

      Succession
      Chernobyl
      Mr Robot
What we do in the shadows
      Big Little Lies
      Veep
      Watchmen
      The Americans
      The Sopranos

Pretty much anything from HBO since they have their entire catalogue.

      • +1

Not to mention Seinfeld, Curb your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, Silicon Valley, Frasier .. Sex and the City for the mrs too.

        • +4

Barry too. Silicon Valley and Barry are easily the two funniest shows I've watched in a while.

        • +1

Wait, Curb is on there? Gonna have to sign up for the free trial then!

        • +1

          Seinfeld's on stan

      • Good list. Cheers. Currently watching Veep. It's excellent.

    • +1

      The walking dead.

      • +1

        until about season 7

        • +2

          *Season 2.

          • @sssbp: Seriously? How can they think that's a smart move considering FoxtelNow has the latest season?

            • +1

@Urban Warrior Ninja: They're all on there, the comments were referring to where you can stop watching as it's downhill from there.

Avenue 5, HBO comedy with Hugh Laurie

    • -1

I wouldn't take it even if they paid me.

  • +11

12 months free for Telstra customers.

    • +1

      I only got 6 months

      • +5

Individuals were offered different free periods based on their customer status with Telstra. When you signed up there was a pre-applied code for the 6 months, you had to delete it and change it to the 12 months code for it to work for a full year. The deal was posted a couple of days ago here with the details.

    username checks out

Can you subscribe and straight away unsubscribe then still can watch until end of 30 days ? Or you have to cancel it just before it is renewed ?

    • +4

Yes you can cancel straight away, and keep watching for 30 days.

      • +1

Can you cancel straight away and keep watching for 12 mths if you signed up with the Telstra postpaid mobile deal?

        • No. If you cancel it only let's you have 1 month. I tried it, but reactivated it so it will still charge me in 12 month. I have set a reminder so I am reminded to cancel it before that date

      • Thanks

  • +1

I was thinking use this for 1 month then swap out to telstra 6 months?

    • I did the original 2 week trial then when it finished, went to the 12 months and it worked for me.

  • +2

"BINGEMELBOURNE". Encouraging resident from melbourne to stay home.

  • Didn't work as I previously had Kayo :(

  • +2

Just a heads up, Binge has no app for Samsung or LG smart tv’s, so don’t bother with the trial if you were thinking of watching that way. Quite disappointing…

Thanks for notifying us of the offer though Op.

    • if you have samsung or lg smart tv, you can just airplay (ios) or screen mirror (android), no?

      • Depends on the age of the TV. Only the newer/newest ones have airplay

    • +3

Works using Chromecast though if ya have one

      • Yep. But doesn’t work with Firestick.

    • Hdmi cable?

      • +4

Yes, but only works if it's the Monster® brand.

    • +1

If you have android TV, download the APK here and side install it
      https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/streamotion-pty-ltd/binge-for-…

      • It's on the app store anyway?

      • I wonder if this will work on the Firestick? I'll try it out

  • +1

Does the Telstra code work on Boost?

    • Nope someone above checked

  • +1

Can't complete the signup just hangs. I have an existing streamotion account (kayo) if that makes any difference.

    • Same here, tried several browsers

  • +1

I like the programs available but just couldn't handle the video quality.
It was pretty hard to watch on my larger tv. Dark scenes were blocky, they are using a shocking bitrate.

    • +1

You would think it would be the same quality as kayo considering they are the same company.

  • Anyone know how to bundle this up with the Telstra Plus 6/9/12 month benefit?

Sign up first with Binge direct with 'BINGEMELBOURNE' code, then go into Telstra plus, link out and somehow apply it to the new Binge account you signed up?

I logged into Telstra plus, didn't go through every screen yet, but saw this:
Redeem by 18 Jan 2021. Initial 3 months not available if already redeemed. Must sign up via Telstra. Roll onto BINGE Standard fees (currently $14/mth) after offer ends unless you change/cancel. Requires internet & compatible device. Data charges apply.

It states 'Must sign up via Telstra', anyone managed to confirm both deals together?

Anyone also know how many devices can be viewing content at the same time? Couldn't seem to find this on the Binge page (other than have the app downloaded on multiple devices)

    • I'm assuming no one has worked out how to join both this trial + Telstra Plus together?

  • +1

I have to sign into Kayo, so I do that. Then it just haaaaangs :(

    • +1

Just worked out you can get around it by trying to sign up with a new account (put a + before the @ in your email) but your phone number linked to Kayo.

It will process the coupon and then when you enter the mobile phone code they text to you it will get you to log into your regular Kayo account and hey presto you have a month free Binge.

Finally, something good associated with Melbourne this week! Haha

  • +1

Thanks OP added it to my growing list

  • +3

Is it me or is the quality on Binge pretty crappy.

Compared to netflix, the video quality are noticeable lower.

    • 1080p max.

      • +1

1080p is irrelevant when they so heavily compress everything.
The compression used is horrible, particularly dark scenes.

    • +1

      Yeah it's definitely worse

  • +2

Anyone knows if we can have subtitle at all ? Doesn't seem any option to do this.

  • -1

I found the Apple TV app dreadful - it seems quite unpredictable when navigating.

There's some good content that I believe isn't on other streaming services.

    Such as 90's films:
    Death Becomes Her
    Beetlejuice

    And more recent films:
    Hugo
    The Adventures of Tintin
    Jurassic World

    • Beatlejuice is on one of the others, watched it the other month (can't remember which though, I have 5).
      Plus all the Jurassic series.

  • Big Bang Theory
    McMillions
    Barry
    Last Week Tonight
    Mr Mercedes

  • +1

Even a free trial wouldn't convince me to sign up for Binge lmao

  • Just had a response from binge help stating that I can't use the code because I am a current kayo subscriber. I replied with That's ok from what I hear I'm not missing out on much🙂

    • Just worked out you can get around it by trying to sign up with a new account (put a + before the @ in your email) but your phone number linked to Kayo.

It will process the coupon and then when you enter the mobile phone code they text to you it will get you to log into your regular Kayo account and hey presto you have a month free Binge.

      • You're a gem, thank you.

      • Thanks! Worked once I figured out you need to open the Login link in a new window, then after logging in with kayo, go back to that window and update number (don't change it) then enter the new phone code they send again. Still need to enter your cc details then go.

  • Can someone recommend a "burner phone" app?
I don't want to give Binge my phone number when I sign up.
I downloaded Hushed but it doesn't do SMS for Australian numbers.

  • +1

No Closed captions at all on Binge! Poor show

    • +1

Binge, but only if you have perfect hearing and English.

      • not for anyone ESL as well. If you're English as a Second Language, you almost always rely on subtitles, whether they're only in English or otherwise.
