650

Just saw ESPN is now available on Disney+.

Already announced in forum in February.

Disney+ today launched ESPN on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand, bringing blockbuster matchups, unmissable moments and more than 10,000 hours of ESPN’s live sports action to the platform.

ESPN on Disney+ is now streaming and included for all Australia and New Zealand subscribers, both Disney+ Premium and Disney+ Standard.

In terms of what exactly is included, it says:

The new ESPN hub on Disney+ includes live ESPN and ESPN2 channels, fan-favourite studio shows such as SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA Today, and First Take, along with live events and on-demand replays, and iconic original programming including ESPN’s award-winning library of 30 for 30 films.

Users who wish to Block "Additions to Streaming Services" can do so by clicking on the Streaming Service Addition tag, then clicking the 3 dot menu, then clicking hide on new deals and/or front page. Ensure that on the home page, the new front page is selected for customisation to show. Video Instructions here or More info here.

Looks like it's broken for those of us whose subs are outside of Australia (only shows a few NBA Minis and some ESPN docos etc)?

    Anyone have a fix?

    • +20

Want to have the cake, eat it too, and still stay skinny

      • +24

        uh yeah, this is OzBargain…

    • +3

yep, mine is broken too, no live channels.

Looks like your billing/subscription needs to be Australia / NZ, you can't just be accessing it in Australia or NZ (like all the other content on D+).

    • +1

      Streaming execs right now

‘If we add regional sport, all the region fakers will have to lapse and take up a higher price sub?’

      🥲

      • its a smart move, but….
you watch them increase the price of the sub next year because of the extra value they've added 'for free' this year.

I'm guessing that F1 wont be included with ESPN since fox has the rights here?

    • Yeah I am curious how that will work for tennis too since BeIn Sports has the rights here. All that the press post mentioned was

ESPN has extensive rights to major sporting events, featuring basketball action across the NBA, WNBA, FIBA as “Your Home for Hoops”, and more.

      • +5

Why are you both confused when ESPN has neither rights?

        • +1

Just trying to figure out what's actually included beyond NBA haha

    • +4

Wont it just be the same ESPN AU channels presented on Kayo, Foxtel etc?

      • that's the plan… for the moment.

    • +1

Yep, although AFAIK, the F1 rights for the 2026 season are up for renewal this year - should find out within the next month or two who scores the rights?

      https://www.sportspro.com/news/f1-foxtel-tv-broadcast-rights…

    • +1

No, F1 is shown on the fox sports channels, not ESPN.

ESPN will give you a selection of NBA games, all the NBL games, a selection of NFL games and a selection of NHL games. Plus I'm sure a whole of other random niche stuff.

      • Cheese rolling when…?

    • You'll be prying the F1 rights out of Foxtel/Telstra/Newscorp cold dead hands methinks :)

  • Is it 4k?

  • -2

Yo what this include the ufc?

    • +1

      Kardashians….

      • Does it have Shogun at least?
Just wanted to know, no shot I’m subbing to Disney+.

    • Yes UFC is included.

    • +1

      OKC, UFC, KFC.. Lakers Goodbye..

  • It’s been emailed numerous times, there was a bar thing on the main screen about it as well

  • +5

    ESPN Streaming @ Disney+

    $20.99 per month…

    • +9

wow! they really are taking the Mickey.

  • +1

Espn+ so much better if you can access it as way more content. Wonder if Disney will include this for Aus?

  • -5

    Will this include AFL games?

    • Does ESPN now?

      • in Africa & a few EU countries.

    • This is ESPN AU, so no.

  • +1

anyone else had their GobbleGobble suns go from $60->$150/yr? Back to the highseas when mine expires.

as for ESPN Au/NZ, it looks like Foxtel is being picked apart and will be left with SkyNews and not much else.

  • +6

Can't wait for the price to go up yet again for something I'd actively choose not to have if given the option

    • They should put this as an optional add on instead of eventually forcing everyone to pay for something they don't want

      • Here we are, back to the old Foxtel days 🤣

    • Spotify added e-books and videos to their music to justify higher price…

  • -2

Any idea if EPL is included in ESPN?

  • Disney+: "Everything from Mickey to UFC"

  • +1

its getting too expensive to stomach. been a disney+ subscriber since Covid… and there isnt really anything new on it. better to wait awhile for the library content to load up then subscribe again at a much later time.

  • +3

The fragmentation of live sport is starting to get really painful. No doubt Disney will eventually pull all their ESPN content from other providers and make it all in house.

So to watch NRL, AFL, basketball, soccer and rugby union you'll need,

    Kayo = $25pm
    Disney plus = $17pm
    Paramount plus = $10pm
    Optus sport = $25pm
    Stan sport = $27pm

    Total = $104pm…

People around here love to hate on Foxtel… But all of this used to be on one platform, for about $60 a month~ (including a set top box and heaps of other channels).

    • -2

Depends on what you watch, and if it's seasonal etc - for me personally, it could possibly work out relatively cheap if F1TV becomes available in Australia from next year:

      • Currently paying around $550 a year ($46 a month) for Prime (cricket), Kayo (UFC, NBA / NBL, and F1), as well as Disney+ for the kids

      • Could be paying around $300 a year ($25 a month) for Prime (cricket), Disney+ (UFC and NBA / NBL) and F1TV Access (F1)

    • +1

      You forgot about bein sports

      • +2

True and looks like I forgot some cricket is on prime now too.

    • +1

I read somewhere Fetch has a Vibe package add-on for $6 which includes ESPN and ESPN2 and you can login to the ESPN app to watch too.

  • +3

Why are people asking about all these different sports just because ESPN or ESPN+ in US show it? You'd think by now that everyone would know that sports broadcasting rights are regional, not global.

  • +1

Does anyone know if this grants access to ALL NHL games? Slightly cheaper than NHL TV so I'd definitely make the switch, but I don't want to resub without confirmation first haha

    • -1

I highly doubt it. They don't show all the NFL games or NBA games so I doubt they show all the NHL games.

    • -1

Absolutely not, just what is on ESPN (presumably the same roughly as what Kayo has now - a few games per week). If you follow a team you need NHLTV.

      • +2

I just resubbed and it surprisingly it has every game with the option of home and away feeds. Stoked!

        • +1

I was looking last night for the Flyers Vs. Leafs game - it wasn’t there in Disney, but was in the ESPN app. I see it’s there now though.

          • +1

@NinjaChicken: Stoked to see proper coverage - even the TSN pre-game panels.

And being able to watch on the AppleTv without needed to cast from the NHL app.

            Winning!
            (Unlike the Flyers. lol).

  • -1

Assume this is only applicable to Disney+ Premium?

    • +4

      Read the post description.

"ESPN on Disney+ is now streaming and included for all Australia and New Zealand subscribers, both Disney+ Premium and Disney+ Standard."

      • +2

whoooops, sorry and thank you for replying

  • Paying to watch sport lol

  • Are NCAA games available to stream? Can’t seem to find any

    • Sure does. Live broadcasting basketball right now.

  • Don't tell me ESPN is going woke too!?

  • Was hoping to watch Bulls vs Lakers this morning but guessing my expectations about which games we can actually watch was highly over expectations?

    • +1

Espn shows some NBA games. If you want to watch them all, you will need a league pass.
