The world’s greatest sports entertainment is set to light up on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand in 2025.
Disney+ today announced the expansion of its entertainment offering with ESPN sports programming set to light up on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand in the coming months.

The launch follows the addition of ESPN content to Disney+ in Latin America in June 2024. Australia and New Zealand are the first English-speaking markets outside of North America to launch ESPN on Disney+, following the US debut in December 2024.

The ESPN hub on Disney+ will bring more than 10,000 hours of ESPN’s live sports action to the platform via live ESPN and ESPN2 channels, with fan-favourite studio shows including SportsCenter, The Pat McAfee Show, NBA Today, and First Take, along with live events and on-demand replays, and iconic original programming including ESPN’s award-winning library of 30 for 30 films.

All Disney+ Premium and Standard subscribers in Australia and New Zealand will have access to ESPN on Disney+, with thousands of premier sporting events on show.

Not sure if it will increase subscribers though:

Guaranteed to increase the subscribers monthly fee though

    • just saw a video that said the also gonna put ads in premium tiers.
apparently upgrade ads about their own sub service but ads are still ads.

  • Does this mean Kayo loses ESPN?

    Wouldn't be surprised.

From the link: In addition to the ESPN offering that will be on Disney+, ESPN is available via Foxtel, Kayo Sport, Fetch TV, and Sky NZ.

    • Kayo price goes up
      Disney price goes up

  • Got an e-mail from them last month saying that the annual price of 139.99 is being bumped up to 179.99 and the tier being called Disney+ Premium guessing it was in prep for including ESPN…

Less and less reasons to keep Kayo, especially after the price rise. Not sure how their management keeps raising prices while removing content. The only thing I can think of is that they will bid on the EPL rights which Optus want to offload.

  • Says available to standard and premium subscriptions. I got the same email as Magnus and went for standard so fingers crossed as my son's are really happy right now.

  • Will this include F1???

    • +1

No. Fox Sports have exclusive F1 rights in Australia. Except the Australian GP which is also on Network Ten to comply with anti-siphoning laws.

      • Dang. I was excited for a moment. Wanted to flick Kayo. It’s a lot to pay for one sport.

    • This is another localised for Australia sports channel not the full ESPN / ESPN2 you may know from the US which have F1 etc.
They will stitch together whatever they have rights to from the US and fake it till you make it as "ESPN" to the Aussies.
Better to get a VPN imho.

      From Disney+ Support:

Here's a preview of some of the sports and leagues you can find using ESPN on Disney+:
      National Basketball Association (NBA)
      Major League Baseball (MLB)
      National Hockey League (NHL)
      Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
College sports (including basketball, football, and more)

upon further checking, I am able to see that Fl and GP races are not available at the on the new ESPN/ESPN2 for now.

  • Does anyone know if this will include NHL games?

  • Looking forward to the next free trial period……
    .

  • Launching March 26th.
