I'm going to take a look at the ingredients then decide. I've only tried the sweet whiskey glaze and wasn't a fan. It's supposed to be used as a glaze (eg on ribs for the last 5mins to 20 mins of cooking).

      Very average in my view.

for me the sweet whiskey glaze is awesome on pork ribs. Going to try the dark beer this weekend.

    • I had the Sweet Whiskey Glaze last week. It was average.

I really like the original. It's a smokey one. Favorite use is fried egg, cheese and BBQ sauce in a wrap.

Sweet whiskey is ok, more like a Worcestershire to me.
was nice mixed with some tomato pasta sauce and used on top of a meatloaf.

Would be good brushed on meat while on the bbq.

I see we’ve got another bottle in the pantry.

      Worth the $2.50

I just saw it’s made in Poland, of all places.

    • I’m Canadian. Used to smash this shit like nothing else back home. It’s absolutely delicious with a Smokey flavour and thicker but has a lot of sugar in it vs Australian bbq sauce. It’s a staple back home.

  • 42% sugar. Wowie.

That’s pretty standard for a lot of bbq sauces. Stubbs has the lowest carbs of the easily available ones that I know of, it’s ~23%.

      • "mapax" Exactly why I got the Stubbs Original ( lowest sugar out of range ) few weeks ago

and was impressed for quality when getting it on sale or in my case even for half price.

Not bbq sauce, but do you like Frank’s sauces? They’re on special at Aldi at the moment and only 2.9% carbs in the Buffalo and 4% in the Original.

          • @mapax: Cheers. Really like Franks Hot Sauce Original, but have not tried the other varieties. I use Worcester sauce in cooking, but prefer something thicker than Franks Hot Sauce Original for my Barbeque Condinent sauce.

Which one is the closest to a spicy barbeque sauce ( see they have huge range ), will give it a try if Aldi still has them next time I go ( live 50 Klm round trip away to my nearest Aldi )?

@ozhunter68: So far I’ve only tried the original but have a bottle of the Buffalo in the cupboard for next time I get wings. Unfortunately I don’t think any of the Frank’s sauces at Aldi can be compared to bbq sauce.

Stubbs uses good ingredients, no HFCs, but I'm just not a fan of any of their sauces.

Aldi has some Sweet baby rays right now, some of the more exotic flavours.

It obviously depends on what one likes, some of the best bbq sauces I had was while I was in the US, but their supermarkets have about 100 different bottles to try.

Yes, that’s most sauces/glazes/marinades. A high sugar content so it darkens and caramelises.

      • Sugar burns pretty easily though and not a pleasant taste, especially at higher temps

With ribs, you only want to use as a finishing sauce and not go above a certain temperature when cooking, just so the sauce sticks or sets
