Thought this was a good deal considering it is NVMe and the cheapest listed on StaticIce.

Pretty much every other m.2 ssd they are selling has a better deal than this one does.
Also, how do you know they are eligible for the cash back? They aren't one of the named companies and I couldn't find any details linking them to any on that list either.
Others are not NVMe but M.2 SATA, as far I see this is the cheapest Samsung NVMe:

I was mainly talking about the 500gb and 1tb of the same drive.
yeah i'd pay 50% more and get a drive 100% bigger
https://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/118890
but thats just me
Not bad if you also have a larger regular size SSD or HDD, or not many files.
oh how I wait the day for the 2TB to pop up on OzBargain.
That’s a lot of premium considering a crucial 1tb nvme is at the 190-210$ range?
thats true but p1 is QLC
depends a lot on your use case though, this is 4x less in terms of storage and costs 2x more (if the cashback is to be believed).
is this 4x or 2x faster than the p1? from my last research on these things, i doubt so.
in 5 years time, we'd have cheaper tb/$ that most people will jump to the bigger capacities anyway so imo write endurance isn't that important either.
case in point, who are still using the 64gb SSDs on their machines nowadays? :)
as you say - use case. there's a reason the 970 is on top of most "best SSDs" lists. for me, i'd always go the samsung for an OS drive.
i've got 64gb ssds in my workbench pcs :)
having said all that - i've got my eye on the Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB for my next ssd. ~$235 and seems to sit in between the 970 evo and 970 plus.
I'd be going for this for a regular user, double the capacity for $112.59 now (may drop again knowing Amazon). Somewhat Slower speeds but debatable who'd notice in use. Still does sequential read speeds up to 2400 MB/s

Who'd notice it in use? Raw 4K editors and weirdos who copy multigigabyte files within it multiple times a day.
prawns ISOs…
FYI If you're using this for gaming, don't bother with 256 gig, these days AAA games are like 80gigs each.
Agreed… heck if you have a healthy budget don't even bother with 500GB! I only have 2 games on mine and it has 100GB free.
Just upgraded from a 250GB 960 EVO to a 1TB 970 EVO Plus. I will never put anything under 500GB in as a boot drive again for my main machine.
I mean this is a deal for a Samsung SSD but even at $99 that price is pretty terrible. For $85 you can get a WD Blue 500GB! If you absolutely need this performance then the Sabrent Rocket, WD SN750 (frequently on sale) or ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro are far better options.
Yikes! From the last time Samsung did the cashback offer I got the 500gb model for $110
This might be the cheapest Samsung NVMe but it is the worst storage size in terms of dollars per gig, not to mention that 256GB for a boot drive is way too small to be considered comfortable. You would be way better off getting the same drive in 500GB or 1TB size, both in terms of long term comfort and your dollars going further.
The Crucial P1 is cheaper at 175$
