2.5m Multifold Ladder 120kg Industrial - Hurricane Brand - $69 @ Mitre 10

870

EOFY Click and Collect deal with Mitre 10 - Equivalent ladder at Bunnings is $86 but as this is an online only deal they told me they wouldn't price match. Worth a go though I'm sure some bunnings would do it.

Cheapest price I could find at the moment so I thought I would share

      Nice.

  • +9

Worth supporting a Mitre 10 over Bunnings if you can anyway. They buy from Metcash, but most are locally owned.

    • +5

Good luck finding a Mitre 10 here in Perth. Lol.

      • +5

I've got no conception of distance in Perth but

        • +3

Correct, you have no concept of distance in Perth.

Your list has 1 store in an 8km radius.
Compare that to Melbourne where you have 5 stores in an 8km radius.

Add to that that the Malaga and Northbridge stores are Trade Stores. So you nearest general store is Walker's, so a 30 minute drive.

          • +1

@Tiggrrrrr: Hmm OK, strange that the website doesn't mention anything about them being trade stores. Oh well.

          • +3

@Tiggrrrrr: Doesn't matter. I've picked up stuff for click and collect from the Northbridge store and I'm not a tradie!

            • @misterchan: As I said above, that makes 1 store within a 15km radius?

Trade store as in it stocks mainly Trade items. Didn't say you had to be a Tradie to shop there, I go there regularly for cement, nails, etc. Just that it won't stock a lot of retail consumer items. e.g. Malaga doesn't stock paint.

Good luck walking into Faranosi's and finding anything that's advertised in the catalogue or on the web site without having to pre-order it. I prefer to look at the item I'm buying before buying it. That's just personal preference.

Also to OP, Bunnings price policy states that the item must be available for same day collection.

          • +1

@Tiggrrrrr: I live near Walker's and although it's an okay store it does not have the stock of Bunnings (even the small one round the corner) and some of their prices are eye watering.

          • +3

@Tiggrrrrr: Least you only have 8km or so to get there.
I have 278km so no ladder for me…

          • -2

@Tiggrrrrr: You poor thing. What about the people in regional areas that don't have a significant hardware store within 30 - 40 minutes. Can see any of their comments complaining about distances on here.

            • +3

@Maloo: Are you people serious? I made a throw away comment about the lack of Mitre 10 stores in Perth. That's it.

              Get a grip people.

I'm trying to wean off Bunnings teat myself. Especially after watching large price increases over the years after their competition has decreased.

      • Bunnings gardening where you can see how they have considerably jacked up their prices. No competition, we are at their mercy.

  • Thanks OP!

  • ** Bonus planks for safe platform standing.

    • I saw this in the description too.
      Any idea what this is?

  • +1

Identical to this one - with the exception of the sticker!
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/syneco-2-5m-120kg-weight-capacit…

    • The sticker is enough for them to deny the price match. They will just say it is a different brand.

I know for a fact they sell certain items that ARE branded the same but have a model number that different and is JUST for Bunnings stock. The item is identical in every other way to the model sold in many other stores. They do it purely so they don't have to price match!

  • +1

Anyone know the height of the top rung in extended and step ladder modes? (Why don't they supply this information? Pretty basic I would have thought.)

    • Ummm, 2.5 metres?

      • What next, you're going to say 1.25m for step ladder?

        • +2

          2.2m / 1.1m

Shouldn't really be standing on the top rung though

          • @Tiggrrrrr: Yeah, just wanted to get a rough idea.

  • +1

Dont I want the one that supports a 'suv'… comes with a 'lig liviller'

    • +4

      Lol.

However, 120kg does seem a little light on. All my ladders are 150kg. Guess I am just a fat bastard.

  • Thanks OP. Great price and I needed one of these

  • +8

I have this and everytime I have to use it, I wish I'd bought the next size up (3 rungs per side, instead of 2 like this one).

  • Bought one, thanks

  • Bunnings increased their price on the 3.7m one. Used to be $99 for a long time and now it’s $109

  • I dont have any Mitre near me. Can anyone suggest a good not too expensive ladder from bunnings which lets be climb to the roof to clean the rain gutters? Thanks.

    • +1

Single or double storey place? This is just adequate for single storey. You need at least 3.7 m for double.

      • Thanks. I have a single story house.

        • +2

I'd still go a 3.7 even if you're single story. Extra rungs are good.

        • +1

I took out my measuring tape before buying the ladder. It just reaches my gutters so would think it's similar for your house. I wouldn't use it to get on the roof though. If you want to do that, definitely get the 3.7m one. I think bunnings has it for $109.

  • +4

    Good for social distance!!

  • Bought, i can finally climb up to my roof!

  • +1

These are great for saving space, solidly built

  • +4

    $69. Nice

  • Damn, i just realised 2.5 m isn't high enough. Do they allow cancellation of the order?

    • You can use this to change light bulbs or mount art on the wall. Or kill a spider at the corner ceiling.

      • +1

Or kill a spider at the corner ceiling.

I just throw the wife at those…

        • +1

I just throw them at the wife.

      • Yeah, but I already have a ladder for indoor. I got to say i love their customer service. I cancelled mine. I will definitely purchase something else from them which I will usually get it from Bunnings.

  • -1

A cheap ladder. What could go wrong?

    • +3

As long as it's stronger than this one it should be okay

      • Haha!!!

      • lol, good one.

      • Lol thanks you've made my day

  • I always thought Bunnings price match also has to be identical, including brand. I don't believe the model they sell is Hurricane?

      • The sticker is enough for them to deny the price match. They will just say it is a different brand.

I know for a fact they sell certain items that ARE branded the same but have a model number that different and is JUST for Bunnings stock. The item is identical in every other way to the model sold in many other stores. They do it purely so they don't have to price match!

  • This one or telescopic ladder to go to roof?

  • +4

Don't like the locking mechanism on these ladders they could fail while you are climbing it. Would definitely go for the pin lock ladder instead.

    • The locking mechanism does become hard to operate over time as well. I've tried WD40, grease, chain lube and all don't really help. After time you need a screwdriver to pry the lever open to fold.

Also the rungs are really only good for going up and down, any time standing on them and your feet start to ache.

    • These are painful ladders only good for transportation if you car with no racks. Because of the hinges they flex and a bit more wobbly for taller models. For 2.5M models like this should be fine with the hinges.

Also, you might want to check out the Syneco folding ladders at Bunnings before buying another brand. I foolishly bought a different brand thinking they are the same but the Syneco has better hinges and they have much less flex than the ones I bought from another hardware store.

  • Great timing. Been after one of these for months.

  • What about Ladder Transforma? Are they good?

  • Thanks OP.
    Got 1.

How much did this sell for before?

    • +1

      $89

      • Thanks, I was just curious.

  • I just got the ladder from Mitre10, but they didnt give the "Bonus planks for safe platform standing"

Upon inquiry they said that this was not part of this deal and have also taken that line out from their website.

Anyone else face the same issue.
