Vodafone appear to be having 10% off all prepaid mobiles, therefore the Google Nexus by Samsung is $269, down from $299!

It appears to be 10% off the already reduced price of $299 posted under a month ago.

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/53413

As discussed previously in the last deal, phone is unlocked so you can avoid using the phone on the Vodafone network; however note the bandwidths of 900/2100, so it is suitable for Optus and Vodafone networks.

Another 10% back from Moneybackco if your a True Ozbargainer, bring the price down below $250! ($242.10 to be exact)

Enjoy!

Damn.. and I thought I did well getting my friend to get GST back on it for me (got a $20 protection kit for it to push it over $300) when they went overseas last week..

Awesome price for it. For anyone who's interested in getting it, just remember that they may tell you it's unlocked (and that it costs $X to unlock it), the box even has the "this phone is locked to Vodafone" sticker on it (as mine did), but it shouldn't be locked.

However, don't forget the Acer Liquid Metal for $128 at JB Hi Fi. The deal still appears to be active even though it says it has expired. I saw it today in-store at JB Hi Fi Eastgardens.

Nexus Prime is around the corner hence expect all Samsung phones prices slashed.

  • +1

a very good starter price for an easily moddable phone.

Google updates these frequently and the first ice cream sandwich leak was on a nexus s, so I predict this is the cheapest android 4.0 phone you can start with

the hummingbird processor is still very capable, playing 720p .mkv's flawlessly.

  • so do we have to buy the 35$ recharge to get the phone for 269 or can we just purchase the phone prepaid with no credit for 269?

    • +2

$10 international prepaid is the minimum.

  • I've already got it for a month at $299 and it works flawlessly. An excellent android phone.
I thought it can only be bought at stores. How can you use money back?

  • Great price - saw this a few days ago, knew I should of posted this on OzB!

Great deal and probably best specs - pricepoint for a mid range android phone.

I'm waiting till next year for some cheap 4G android phones.

  • Awesome price! I would so get this if I didnt have my LG 2x haha

    • Definitely. But the Optimus 2X does have it's advantages, such as it's dual core 1GHz processor. xD

I agree :D Best value phone out there. Even better with CM7 on it. <3

Am actually more interested in this as they've removed NFC from the Australian Galaxy S2.

    • really? why?

      • -5

he just explained why, can't tell if trolling or…

        • I think he probably means why does he need NFC so badly?

        • NFC is not that exciting, I wouldn't buy a phone over another because it had NFC

        • and eyew you use NFC where exactly?

        • More for tinkering / development really. Can't see it happening at scale for end users here yet. Annoyed that Samsung left it out for Australia market.

  • so the cheapest price is 269+10(without moneybackco) ? anyway to avoid $10?
    thanks

  • A noob question: does Android system come with an offline navigation app (store maps locally and only use 3G for initial AGPS positioning)? I'm using Nokia phone and the free offline navigation is the only app that I use regularly.

    • Yep, you can use navigon. It's free for Samsung devices I think.

      • +1

        Not on the Nexus.

      • Though Samsung makes the Nexus S, I don't think it is a Samsung phone… Its more like a Google's phone

      • Nexus S isn't listed for navigon samsung devices im the market

        • Wouldn't worry too much about the "free" Navigon for Samsung devices. My Samsung device comes with it.. but you need to pay extras for: (1) safety camera alert (2) advanced lane guidance… I think you might even need to pay extra for text to speed (pronounce street names).

  • Now THIS is a nice deal on a samsung smart phone - not a dual core but still capable

You can also bet that this would be the second phone to get Ice cream sandwich after the nexus prime

  • auto update to 2.3.6 good phone

  • Bought One, Thanks lambsie :)

  • How does this compare to the desire HD?

    • +2

well unlike a htc this will actually get updated

plus it doesnt have the trash of a cpu called snapdragon - so much better

    • snapdragon was so last year

  • is this generic or branded vodafone?

  • For all those reading reviews etc, this phone will be model number i9023 not i9020.

Still a great phone at a great price!!

    • What's different about them? GSMArena says i9023 was the one made for the Indian market?

      • 9023 with Super Clear LCD, 9020 with Super AMOLED, and 9023 is a little bit thicker and heavier

  • Can't seen to find the prepaid link on the page, might of missed out! :(

    • dammit, think i missed out too. tell me it aint so?

  • Good phone. I bought one for the wife last week, she loves it but was a bit envious of my GSII until I put CM7 on them both. 2.3.7 is great.

  • I assume this phone isn't compatible to the new 850mhz network of vodafone?

    • no it isnt

      • I want a 850Mhz Nexus S at that price… :(

        • they dont make one. in australia atleast. The AT&T one does support 850 thou

  • If you buy it online, a recharge of $35 is compulsory, making it $304 totally. This should be made clear in the title.

    • no its not. You can just get 269 +0. Just look at the "most popular offer"!

      • I just noticed that! thanks for your info, just called voda to cancel my order, and been told it takes up to a month for refund……sigh

  • Like this phone a lot but no FM radio kills it for me…must have FM for listening to the footy, as internet radio apps do not broadcast footy as far as I know?

    • even if they did, using data to listen to radio sucks.

galaxy S has FM radio (and microSD card slot). only a matter of time before they become as cheap as their googleified brother, the nexus S.

      • Hope you are right! Or HTC Incredible S at under $300 might sway me also….pity I-phone 4S is such a let down. I would never buy one but was hoping it would put more pressure on Android prices to come down….

  • Can anyone give advice? I bought one, or thought I did - got an order number but the SIM rego screen said there were problems registering and to try again. Now the order number doesnt work.
Emailed Voda assistance 7 hours ago but don't expect to hear anything and dont want to miss out. Anyone had experience with this, ie. if you double order do they refund you? Cheers

    • all good, just got notice of shipment. somehow my order dropped off the system for a while

      • after how long you get the notice of shipment? I ordered 11/Oct 3PM, still waiting for shipment

        • same here, ordered around 1 PM 11/10 Status: Order being processed

        • Do you tracked moneyback through Moneybackco or Buckscoop? I can't see mine.

        • Lets see, ordered - Tue, Oct 11, 2011
Order completed email one day after that.
          Arrived (melbourne) today.

        • Sorry, and no sign from moneybackco. Last thing I ordered online via moneybackco never showed up on their site so am keen to see this appear.

        • I was just on the phone to Vodaphone. They are unable to give an exact update of when it will be delivered as they are waiting on new stock to arrive, hinted on a possibility of even a week.

        • got my notice of delivery today morning, and the other one i cancelled, also got a notice of delivery, i dont know what to do now… as i had been told it is successful cancelled.. and now….

  • Hi guys can't checkout $269 without paying the $35 prepaid…any help pls?

Click Prepaid under the PLans section below the phone.
$0 and $269 will appear to the right of the phone under "Most popular offer". Click Add To Cart.

Does anyone know if I can get it for $269 in-store?

      • It sells for $299 in stores and they are not ready to apply the 10% discount, anyway none of the stores I called up had them in stock.

      • Cheers dude! I went yesterday at the Vodafone shop in the city and they seems quite firm with the $299 price, they said $269 only from the web

        • ahh, pity. Anyone knows how long it takes to receive it from voda?

  • Hi,

I added two of them into the card and do checkout, after submit , the webpage gives blank, what's wrong with it?

  • I ordered one on 12 Oct however have not received it. The order status showed as 'being processed'. Did anyone here experience such a delay? Thanks.

    • Yup, pretty much the same situation. Ordered on the 11th and sitting in there with the same status message.
Did chase this up a few times with them but no success yet.
