      I hate phone calls!

I did this last time they did it.

Its not one call.. they call once and u say no
Then you are on their spamming list (and the DNC Register does not help because you signed up)

Pass… 10,000 Points and we can talk

    • Lucky me, I found a work around, I'm apparently too fat to get their Health Insurance, so they never called me again. LOL.

      • they didnt ask how fat i was :P
i would of been excluded probably ha ha ha

Not actually Qantas, not a survey as such, health insurer trolling for business. No.

    • -2

It's Qantas Insurance, owned by Qantas. You can always say no on the phone.

      • Really? I thought it was NIB insurance using the Qantas logo and giving commission to Qantas for the rights. Just like the RSPCA pet insurance model.

        • -2

No, Qantas branched out in 2015 to create their own insurance brand and capture a portion of the market. They shopped around for an underwriter and chose NIB. Much effort in loyalty gathering (eg points give away, the ioS and Android Wellbeing app, and more). Then they expanded to life, travel and other insurance.

(source: I used to work at Qantas, and was on the Qantas Assure team (as it was called them))

@beatthatflight: No, they're just an agent/reseller of NIN, TAL, Auto & General, etc depending on the product.

They just sell you a policy directly from those companies and take a commission. Like getting a home loan through Aussie or Rams do with banks, once you sign up, they hand ball you over to the insurer and just take commission.

Policies and claims administered by the insurer

Maybe I'll do this and pass the phone to my two year old.

  • Is qantas health insurance any good ? I was thinking of taking them

    • +1

      It's just an NIB policy.

      https://insurance.qantas.com/#:~:text=Important%20informatio….

Qantas Health Insurance is issued by nib health funds limited ABN 83 000 124 381 (nib) a registered private health insurer, and is arranged by Qantas Airways Limited ABN 16 009 661 901 (Qantas), for which Qantas receives commission.

You might get a better deal going directly.

      • +1

ohh ok .. I'll try to contact nib

    • +1

It's good for the 120k that you get with their Health Insurance.

      • up to 120K. Depends on the policy. But yeah, points!

        • I got 125k (120k bonus + 5k referral) for the last March Health Insurance policy. So pretty happy with the process.

      • I'm not gonna take the highest policy ..

    • i was with nib before… in term of price for single insure holder, i think their cost still competitive. If you're looking to bundle for family, i suggest you look elsewhere.

Anyhow, it still depends on what you need and looking to cover. I used to only looking for tax purpose.

    • My parents were with APIA which uses NIB as the underwriter. Qantas offered them exactly the same product plus Qantas Points plus the extra points in the Qantas Wellbeing app … all for a cheaper price. And by cheaper, I think it was like $50/month or something stupid like that (for the couples package)

Shop around if you need health insurance / want to change. If you already have it, then you dont need to do rewait the waiting periods …

Did this last time, though they say no obligation if you say no they won't give you the points and they spam call you for months.

  • Nah!
