Ubiquiti Dream Machine $525.80 + Postage @ Sams Depo

162

Edit: This was my first post..Sorry everyone for linking to Sams Depo, which is an unverfied website. I saw the low price and wanted to share as I really do think the UDM is a great router.

13IT.com.au have the UDM for $539 plus free shipping.

I just bought one of these bad boys last week for $549, it is currently cheaper than when i got it so thought I'd share. Deal is available til the 2nd of July.

Pricey for a router, but you are getting a security gateway, Cloud key and Access point as well with full IDS / IPS functionality with 850 mb/s throughput turned on.

Great way to get into Unifi products at home.. i bought this for IDS/IPS capability, plus ability to microsegment and create a second SSID / VLAN for all my IoT devices for added security. Great piece of kit, highly recommend it. Only thing missing is Wifi 6.

dodgy as all get out… ABN but no phyiscal business address that i can see

granted its probablty just one dude with an account with syneex ingram etc.

also this is a ridiculously over the top router for soho use

    • I have the same question. Some of these prices seem too good when compared with the likes of Wireless1. The design of the website and the fact it's on a .com and not a .com.au don't inspire confidence either.

      • thanks. thought about as much after looking at their website.

Considering these were $466 a few months back, hardly a steal …

    • After COVID-19 hit they shot up to $700+ for a while. So it is a deal for the times.

  • Sorry never bought from Sams depo before, I got my unit from 13it.com.au

  • $506 + shipping here. Not sure about the merchant however.

    • Seems to jump up to $534 when you get to the checkout. Shipping is meant to be $11

No chance I'd be ordering from them. haha

Unsecured website, no payment encryption, no contact information. Sire screams credit card harvesting.

I'm surprised at how often these are $499. No deal IMHO.

Obviously you dont understand network terminology. Please tell me which normal router provides full IDS/IPS capability at 850 mb/s?

It's a good product. But the spec is already out of date now, especially it's not supporting 802.11ax.
I can't recommend it to anyone.

    • Let's be honest, most in Aus couldn't utilise ax if they wanted to.

Although it is nice to get everything in one unit, my personal experience with the Dream Machine is it hasn't been as stable as individual components, UAP Pro + EdgeRouter X Setup. As always do your research and determine if this is right for you, Amazon reviews are very mixed from fans who usually love Ubiquiti Gear.

The Dream Machines (both this one and the Pro) are build on new hardware and operating system from the USG, Cloudkey, etc. They're under active development and I expect will take a few firmware releases to become a bit more stable.

      • Do not get me wrong… I like Ubiquiti… I have USG with other things… :) and I keep looking at UDM.
But I think it will take another year for Dream Machine to mature. Dream Machine (non-Pro) was "released" to Beta-Store in March 2019. Still Ubiquiti forum is full of people reporting issues and asking for features now.
This is the main reason I don't recommend it to people who is not familiar with Unifi.
If you know what the thing is and you are Ok all these temporary issues - go for it.
But other non-technical people are expecting $500+ device to work since the day one.
