  • Rather pricey, im actually planning to get a smartlock. Looks like i have to make do with https://www.bunnings.com.au/samsung-biometric-digital-mortis… given my budget.

    • We have the older model push/pull similar to the one on this deal.
It's really handy to tap the fob then push the door open especially when you're hands are full with shopping bags.

I’d be more worried about someone stealing the lock than anything in the house 😔

    • Lol…like arlo cameras being snatched

    • This is not just attached on the door. It's fully installed to the door so would be pretty hard to steal. No incentive for anyone to steal as they won't be able to use it.

    • The lock is equipped with Intrusion Alarm.
"When the equipped IR sensor detects any suspicious movements for prolonged periods of time, the door lock sounds a warning siren to ward off unwanted guests. Attempted forced entry or tampering to bypass the lock will set off alarm immediately"

  • Hows this compare to the Lockly with fingerprint from Bunnings for $399 ?

    • Lockly is either a lock or a deadbolt depending on which you're after. The mortise lock particularly from Samsung seems to be a combination of lock and deadbolt. I might be wrong. Did considered Lockly too.

  • Thats a good price. I paid a hundred more from Bing Lee about a month ago.

I just installed it yesterday replacing my 9 year old EZON unit - the cutout was the same but it looks to be more weather proof, more connected, longer battery life, quieter and generally smarter looking.

My old unit was suffering from a droopy handle, crunchy mechanism and battery life was suddenly only 4 weeks (was usually around 9+ months).

Only confusing thing with the DP609 is that it says its WiFi, but mine came with a grey IoT module already installed and was provided with a separate wifi setup booklet, but when I go to setup the wifi, says module cannot be initialised.

I notice in the JB website, it says the IoT module is extra. But on the Bing Lee listing (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164185451551) it says it includes WiFi.

So if you are thinking of buying for the WiFi, it may pay be to be clear on this.

    • I "pre-ordered" one of these direct from the Australian Distributor (Digital Door Locks) and it came with the IoT module also. It's wifi compatible but needs the IoT module to operate. Otherwise, you can replace the IoT module with something like Zigbee etc.

I've only had mine for a few months, cant believe the price has dropped so much (paid $899) in such a short amount of time. These things rarely drop in price.

  • Bunnings guy said they can not price match for special order.

    • +1

they did it for me. Placed my order today.

      • Can you share your invoice?

    • +1

They can definitely do it for special orders. I got them to price match special order doors, special order platform ladder.
If they say they cannot do it, ask them to contact head office which will notify them otherwise.

  • Just about to finalise plans for a new build. Can this be hardwired to a power supply?

    • It's not designed to be, although you could probably pretty easily rig something up.. But to he honest, I doubt there's a need.

I have had mine installed for 3 months now and probably open/close the door at least 3-5 times a day (that's 6-10 unlock/lock sequences).. Battery still shows 85% in the app.

Even though it's mechanical and only runs on AA batteries, it doesn't appear to actually use that much power.
