To celebrate the launch of flights to Ballina, Qantas is offering double status credits on its new route from Sydney (SYD) to Ballina (BNK), which is close to Byron Bay.
The flights are:

QF2063 Ballina 13:15 – Sydney 15:00
To meet the criteria for the double status, you’ll need to fly between 1 July and 31 August 2020.
Note: NSW stopped restricting intra-state travel on 1 June, but that could change if Covid-19 flares up again.

Good for someone that needs to do a status run. Wondering if I can use one of my existing double status credit bookings and stack it on this route? :-)
Why would you do a status run? Status credits expire at your anniv date and your current status has been extended by 12mo. Very limited scope for value in a status run.
They could be close to achieving a higher status level from travel prior to the shutdown.
Yep, I’m just off platinum before I was grounded. Have 4 double status flights prebooked and paid for that I’ve pushed out.
@financialminimalism: It's extremely unlikely you'd be able to double-stack double SCs on SYD-BNK. But you could try and let us know how it goes :)

Are any of you still waiting for refund from cancelled Qantas flight? It has been 6 weeks and no news :(

March flights, cancelled online, rang mid April, new booking created by Qantas which was then cancelled to cover the $ for the old flights…..still waiting 9 weeks later.
Qantas seems to be telling people 8-10 weeks, but of course it would be unsurprising if it takes longer.
I had rewaeds flights to japan… I cancelled in late march (flights were for mid may). I got my points back within 5 days… However the fees only got refunded this week. Took 2 phone calls. They are pretty much just doing nothing until 10 weeks after cancellation…i thinks its to keep alan joyces bonuses so high…

Status credits rather useless at the moment. Little opportunity to fly and the lounges are all closed for the foreseeable future.
