  • wish i had that much money to blow lol! That tv is a beast!!!

    • My 32" lcd might not be anything close to this Sony, but heck I think I'll save my $3000 by putting keeping my money in the bank :)

  • Not sure what has happened to your pic. Did you change your email address registered here? Can you see it on Gravatar?

    • yeh i did actually change the email address lol thanks scotty.

  • There's the X series KDL52X3100 ($5899 RRP) and the XBR KDL52XBR ($6199 RRP). The XBR one is $4720 on staticice.com.au (Camera World isn't the cheapest place) and that tells me $4500 in store is the absolute max if you haggle. May be a better haggling margin for these ones as they're not stocked as often as the lower models, so not as many places selling them to see the real price emerge online (usually it's real price + 50% = RRP, that's if you manage to get the best deal).

New Sony models for X and XBR series are due November (Samsung's series 7 is due September), but the other lower Sony series' models are due in a few weeks. This is why the PS3 and these second hand deals are all happening this month.

    • yeh new series coming out soon but if you look at the specs of the new models there's really not much difference. I had a look at the samsung 7 series specs and most of the new stuff is useless :P

Samsung’s Series 7 1080p Full HD LCD HDTVs share the same specification as Samsung’s Series 6 with the addition of :

Internal flash memory (1GB) with pre-loaded interactive content such as cooking recipes, children’s entertainment, HD artwork and more
Integrated woofer for low frequency enhanced audio experience
DLNA Certification - Compatible for better interoperability with electronic devices from other manufacturers
      Digital Contents Management (DCM)

above additions doesn't make the picture any better and i guess it will be the same for the new sony models :P

      • Hehe don't say that, I have been waiting for that for quite some time, also the 7 series has a 16-bit processor vs 12-bit in the 6 series, but the main thing is I will be able to chuck on a bunch of avi files on a usb stick and plug it directly into the tv and have them play (and it plays a lot of formats, see http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6708/dlnavideoxm0.jpg).

Same should be the case with Sony's XBRs due November, connectivity is the catch, loving the simple life, plugging the ethernet cable into your TV and streaming stuff from a folder on a computer, YEAH BABY! ;o)p

P.S. I meant to ask above if this model you mentioned is XBR or X3100 since there is no XBR3100?
