  • I didn't even know Mi Band 5 was out. Might be worth a try!

    • Warning: Some of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 units have an SpO2 sensor, while some don't. Most of the units coming to Australia don't have it. Some of the ones being sold in China do have it.

Why is SpO2 important? It measures the amount of oxygen in your blood. This can reveal a measure of your fitness and your lung capacity. An SpO2 sensor can also warn you if you start developing sleep apnea. And with nasty respiratory viruses going around, a drop in blood oxygen can be an early warning that you should seek medical help.

    • If you want the NFC version, it is sold on Alibaba, a Chinese equivalent of eBay.

  • Sorry, the page you requested can not be found:(

    Edit: working now

  • Be careful - this is the non-NFC (cheap) version and the feature list is for the NFC version.

    • Thanks for the heads up, almost pull the trigger.

    • Yes, I'd definitely spend the few extra bucks to get the NFC version.

      • Unless you are living in china, the NFC version is useless, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong, I have a Mi Band 4

        • I'm probably mistaken, but while I know that the band 4 NFC does not work internationally, I thought I'd read that with the band 5, it does work.
          Is that not correct?

        • A global NFC version was never released, only a chinese version had NFC on the band 4. The band 5 is shipping global with NFC so will support other NFC platforms. We are all hoping google pay but yet to be confirmed but I don't see why it wouldn't at this stage.

        • The NFC version also includes proper heart rate monitoring and a few other premium features, it's not just the NFC.

  • +2

If the NFC version has google pay support. I am buying one. Will have to wait for official release.

    • Same

    • Same

    • Sounding extremely unlikely that it will, sadly

      • The global version might have it. fingers cross

    • I don't know what Xiaomi might do in the future, but so far it has only partnered with Chinese banks and payment systems.

So even if it comes with the NFC chip on board, it might not be so useful if it only supports Alipay or another Chinese system.

  • Still waiting for my Band 4 after 67 days!

    • Refund and wait for global band 5!

      • They've bunged another month on the dispute date! I/ have to wait till mid July (for an April 10 order).

        • True, they stop you from claiming a refund.

        • Request your bank to initiate a chargeback to your account.

I didn't receive an item (tracking showed item sent to France rather than Thailand where I was staying at the time). I opened a dispute which was settled in seller's favour, so I requested a chargeback from my bank. After sending the bank proof of transaction & address, the money was refunded to my account in a few days.

I have purhased numerous smaller item from AliExpress over the years & this was my only bad experience of this type.

        • 3.5 months later (and after I got a refund from Aliexpress, which was $6 less due to currency fluctuation) my Band 4 turned up! On the same day the cheapo imitation Cadbury one did. The Cadbury one is rubbish. Wouldn't even connect to my phone on the second day (it does have an SPo2 sensor though).

  • +2

It has been confirmed, no SPO2 sensor no NFC (outside China), no Alexa voice assistant. Not worth the upgrade imo.

    • Any idea what is the cheapest smart watch I can get with google pay? I tried google but only leads me to expensive brands.

    • +1

I asked GearBest who confirmed SpO2 is not available. For this reason, I won't buy. Unfortunate, as the Mi Band 5 has so many good features.

  • Thanks, just ordered a global version.

    • but global version Global version is not supporting NFC and SpO2

  • How are these different from the unbranded $6 ones on eBay?

  • Global version is not supporting NFC and SpO2
BUT XIAOMI MIGHT LAUNCH MI BAND 5 PRO as a global variant WHICH HAVE NFC AND SpO2
