Didn't get it on my Amex explorer

  • Received on my AMEX Reserve, nothing on my Charge Platinum :(

  • Got it on my DJs Amex (which I was e-mailed about), but nothing on my Westpac Platinum or Velocity Escape Amexes

    • had you already been paying your bills with the DJs Amex? i dont have the offer but i already pay with it. lame

      • No, I was using my Mastercard

  • You get charged 0.30% by telstra if paying by credit card online

    • Not with Mastercard or Visa via Direct Debit (I just set up my Amex so no idea about them)

      • +2

Not with AMEX either via DD (had set this up during that 50000 points promo)

I think you can pay by direct debit with credit card and no surcharge?

    • That's strange as I thought Amex only did offers with companies that didn't charge a surcharge. I'll have to check Optus.

      • Optus too charge 0.427% if not paid by DD

    • seeing the same in telstra app, even for Visa & Mastercard

      There is a fee for paying manually by any credit card, there is no fee for paying via direct debit to credit card though, even for AmEx (and Diners Club);
      https://www.telstra.com.au/support/account-payment/fees-on-p…

  • Didn't get it on the Qantas Discovery.

  • Not showing on my Velocity Platinum which I already use to pay my Optus bill monthly :(

    • It doesn't show on the app. Came on mine via email. Though if you already use Amex to pay you probably won't get the offer.

  • Will it work if it's on direct debit, or do you have to pay online or through their app or on the phone?

Received on qantas discovery and David Jones Amex

    • Very possible they won't give the points for Direct Debit. On the Amex statement, the description is 'TELSTRA EASYPAY DD2CC ADELAIDE'. So it is obvious payment is by DD.

And T&C for this offer says:
Telstra: Payments can be made online at telstra.com.au, via the My Telstra app or via phone on 13 22 00.

Optus says autopay so you're probably right.

So for 10x points on $40, will have to wear a $2.20 non direct debit fee instead.

        And 0.427% fee = $0.17

        Not a lot of upside.

I just spoke to AmEx via chat, they confirmed that Direct Debits are eligible, as well as multiple transactions. I also just changed my Telstra Direct Debit over to AmEx and got a confirmation email that the offer has been redeemed.

Very good to know, thank you!

  • Get it but not on Optus and Telstra…

    • You can pay my bill if you like ;)

      • I find that Optus and Telstra are more expensive. I am using Boost Mobile

I just notice I got the offer on a few cards. If you are not on either one buying an iPad Air 3 from Optus is a good way to use it. I am going to do that to exhaust some of my offers. Easy 5000 pts and $100-200 profits flipping the ipad.

      • Nice! How can you flip with $100 - $200 profit? Selling to oversea?

        • +1

Ebay or gumtree. You probably didnt realise which one I am talking abt. Optus is selling the ipad air 3 256g for only 760 vs 1199 rrp. Do a search on the site and you should find it.

  • Does anyone know if Boost are included as part of Telstra?

    • Different companies. Won't be included.

    • I'm wondering the same thing, since previous Boost recharges have shown up on my card statement as being billed by Telstra.

      • +2

Answer: Looks like yes, it triggered an Amex email. I recharged from m.telstra.com/boost on my phone itself.

  • Got it on my Qantas Discovery. Not on my Veleocity card

Can confirm that Telstra Direct Debit will get you the bonus points.
