I bought this from BWS when it was $55, but I believe this is an all time low for delivery as it meets Amazon's $39 threshold for free delivery.

ROKU is the premium Japanese craft gin created by the House of Suntory in Osaka, Japan. The name means 'six' in Japanese as it is distilled with six unique Japanese botanicals including sakura flower, sakura leaf, sencha tea, gyokuro tea, sansho pepper and yuzu. Combined with the eight traditional gin botanicals, ROKU is the perfect balance of flavours crafted by Japanese artisans with meticulous attention to detail. Each ROKU botanical is harvested in accordance with the Japanese concept of 'shun', which is the tradition of enjoying each ingredient at its best, only being harvested once they have reached the peak of flavour and perfection. The six botanicals are infused, distilled and blended to create the perfectly balanced gin.

*May contain traces of hand sanitizer.

  • Amazon will destroy my liver with these gin deals

  • Why is Japanese alcohol so overpriced? It's good but it's not worth the price tag. I love Yamazaki for example but I ain't paying $120 a bottle

    • Royalty… no not royalty… royalty.

    • WET tax that's why. This is actually a very good price for Roku gin. I have no trouble buying a bottle of gin for 8-10 bucks at local supermarkets in Japan, and 2-3 Liters of good quality Sake for 10-20 bucks are aplenty. You love Yamazaki because you're chasing the trend. There are a lot more quality JDM whiskeys that deserve respects.

      • Massive boom when Japanese whiskey was winning world awards and the demand was greater than supply. Yamazaki(suntory) went gang busters and they went from having aged years to non aged years to keep up with demand. 12yo went from like 90rrp to 300+ in about 4 years

    • My question is why gin is so overpriced. Its much easier to make than whiskey, doesn't require ageing. Yet sells for similar prices.

      • Maybe the excise on spirits since they have a high ABV combined with the relative low popularity of gin?

    • I paid $20 for this duty free if that puts the taxes into perpective for you.

  • don't forget 8% cashback with cashrewards

Just noticed it's this price at Catch.com, which would be why Amazon matched it. If anybody else is interested, otherwise Dan Murphy's sells it for $55.

  • Great Gin

  • Damn, missed it.

  • Seriously, this and Tanqueray Ten are probably the two best gin on the market (obviously not including all those Boutique Gins). And Roku is 'normally' a bit better value — at this price Roku is probably the best value gin period (for those who aren't 12).

  • Is there really such a thing as nice Gin? I utterly hated the taste of Gin (and tonic) until I realised only recently that the quinine was the reason!.. Gin itself can be masked by so many other things….so can bad whisky….sadly I'm thinking a non wood alcohol based high strength additive (lower priced hand sanitiser!?) to some sugar free soft drink might finally be the go….. All jokes aside Gin did at one time be considered a poor persons drink…and it's not great alone…..what's the best (sugar free) mixer?

    • Try tonic again but don't forget the lime!

    • Sort of, the UK had a crazy period where 'Gin' was cheaper than beer thanks to attempts to undermine French brandys etc. The UK had no tax or low tax on distilled spirits, and distillers popped up everywhere and made 'gin' from more than dubious ingredients. Truly awful stuff.

Of course, the poor drank copious amounts of it at that time as it was cheap, and everywhere. That and you have to remember water was often not safe to drink so people preferred beer, or whatever was cheaper. This led to obvious issues so an exorbitant licence fee to distill was introduced.

It was more called gin, than actually gin.

    • Hendricks is nice. Which gin did you try? If you say Gordons then no wonder… Bombay Sapphire is just ok. Tanqueray is ok. But Hendricks is lovely with some soda and a slice of cucumber (squeeze of lime or lemon). I actually hate tonic water as well. However I do recommend the Fevertree tonic water, it's actually really nice together with gin. I would say gin + lemonade is my favourite but you said sugar free.. maybe just lemon and soda then. You gotta experiment :) But it's also possible gin is just not for you :)

Hopefully not just hand sanitiser in a classy bottle!

Does this work well for gin and tonic?

    • Absolutely, it's a great gin!

  • on sale you can get local made four pillars for this sort of price and I find it has great gins - i thought roku was a it harsh taste but maybe i need to try again

  • How would Roku gun compare with Jintzu gin?

    • I haven't had Jintzu, but I'd describe Roku as very floral. It's like drinking cherry blossoms (in a good way!)

  • For anyone who missed out - or doesn't want to wait for postage, it's only an extra 5 bucks and Dans
